Kidlist At-Home Volunteering Event brought to you by Corsalus Financial

We are making our volunteer event an annual thing! And this year it will be a pick up and drop off event so you can decorate and fill Birthday Boxes and Sweet Cases for local kids in need from home. We are excited to offer this opportunity to give back, especially because your kids can be involved. It’s doable for all ages, hands on, and impacts local kids! It’s wonderful to be able to partner with our site sponsor, Corsalus Financial to provide this way to volunteer with your kids.

All of the decorated and packed Sweet Cases and Birthday Boxes you put together will be donated to All Our Children’s Advocacy Center in Justice, who will be passing them out to kids in tough situations around Chicagoland, such as kids that need support while being relocated for their own safety. You can read more about their work here.

Kit pick up will take place on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Spring Rock Park office at 4400 Central Avenue in Western Springs. You can then take them home to decorate and pack, and bring them back to the same location a week later so they can be prepared for donation.

Options to Decorate and Donate

Sweet Cases are $25 each and include a duffle bag to decorate, teddy bear, coloring book, pack of crayons, hygiene kit, and blanket. You decorate the outside panel and fill the bag with the provided supplies.

Birthday Boxes are also $25 each and include 6 streamers, 6 balloons, birthday card (which you/your child writes/draws in), birthday banner, set of candles, 6 party fans, 6 party hats, and bag of confetti. The boxes have words and pictures on them that you can color. Please note that they come flat and you will need to assemble the boxes (instructions will be provided).

If your child is into coloring, we suggest doing a Birthday Box. If they are more into drawing, Sweet Cases involve free form drawing shapes and pictures on a duffle bag.

You are welcome to decorate the boxes and/or bags with your children or reserve one for yourself. The more we decorate and pack, the more kids in need will receive them!

All of the supplies will be provided, including decorating materials and items to go into the bags and boxes, but you need to pay for however many bags or boxes your family would like to donate.

Corsalus Financial is providing the decorating materials, as well as paying for shipping of the kit materials from Together We Rise and the credit card processing fees so you will not have any added costs. They will also be at drop off to prepare the finished kits for donation. We are excited about partnering with them for this event and love their desire to serve and be a valuable resource for local families!

How to Reserve Your Kits

The order for Sweet Cases and Birthday Boxes has been placed as of January 25, 2021. We’re excited that so many people are participating! We plan on doing this event again next year (hopefully decorating the kits together!), so if you missed the deadline, be sure to reserve your kits early next year!

Kidlist is donating both our time and resources and is not receiving any compensation for hosting this event. We love supporting the community! I will be ordering and preparing the kits for you to pick up. Can’t wait to see you there!

  1. *I know I’m late but I am a classroom teacher and my class would like to do two bags. Was wondering if by any chance you ordered two extra? Thanks,
    Bethany

    • Thanks for your interest! I had to put the order in by the end of the day on Monday, January 25 to make sure the materials arrive in time for pickup. Sorry you missed it this time!
