Support Foster Kids with Us! Kidlist Volunteer and Donate Event brought to you by Corsalus Financial

Resources for Families

You are invited to our 5th Annual Volunteer and Donate Event! Join us on the afternoon of Sunday, March 10, 2024 at The Village Club of Western Springs to decorate, pack, and donate bags to foster children. We are excited to offer this opportunity to give back, especially because your kids can be involved. It’s doable for all ages, hands on, and impacts local kids! It’s wonderful to be able to partner with our site sponsor, Corsalus Financial to provide this way to volunteer with your kids.

All of the decorated and packed duffle bags you put together will be donated to All Our Children’s Advocacy Center in Justice, who will be passing them out to kids in tough situations around Chicagoland, such as kids that need support while being relocated for their own safety. You can read more about their work on the AOCAC website.

Can’t wait to see you there and help make a difference together! Keep reading for the event details and how to reserve your spots.

Kidlist Volunteer and Donate Event

March 10, 2024 | 2-3pm or 3-4pm
The Village Club of Western Springs
4221 Lawn Avenue
Western Springs, IL 60558

A huge thanks to The Village Club of Western Springs for letting us use their space for this event. We appreciate their support in being able to provide for local kids in need!

When is the event?

You have two shifts to choose from and each spot you reserve includes everything you need to decorate, pack, and donate. You can choose 2-3pm or 3-4pm on Sunday, March 10.

How much are the duffle bag kits?

We lowered the price this year! We wanted the event to be accessible to everyone who wants to participate, so we found a way to lower the cost of the duffle bag kits to $15 each! The contents of the bag are tailored to focus on what the kids really need and are giving families the option to add more to the bags if they would like.

Although adding items to the bags you purchase and donate is not required, we ask that each adult and child attending the event reserves a kit so we can make the most of the limited space that we have. These bags are in high demand at All Our Children’s Advocacy Center and the kids that come through their office love them so much! We want to be able to provide as many as we can.

How will you decorate the bags?

We will have fabric markers for you at the event so you and your children can draw and color on the bags without worrying about the mess.

What will you be packing in the bags?

Each duffle bag kit comes with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a luggage tag so the child receiving the bag can put their name on the bag and make it their own. You will place the items in the bag after decorating it.

Can you put other things in the bag?

Yes! You are welcome to purchase additional items for the bags. Shopping with your kids for the foster kids before attending the event is a great way to spend time together and talk about donating to provide some happiness for kids in need. We put together an Amazon Storefront to give you ideas. You can choose to buy items from our storefront, which supports Kidlist through affiliate links, or use the ideas to go shopping with your kids.

Do you need to bring anything to the event?

Please know that purchasing additional items for the duffle bags is completely optional and not expected. We will have the duffle bags, fabric pens, luggage tags, toothbrushes, and toothpaste for you and the event is designed so all you need to do is purchase the kits and show up to participate. So no need to bring anything. We will have your name at the check-in table.

Where do you park when arriving at The Village Club?

You are welcome to park in the Grand Avenue Community Center parking lot across the street and there is also plenty of street parking.

Can’t attend the event, but want to contribute?

This year you have the option to pay for and donate the bags online. We’ll pack the bags for you and donate them to AOCAC when they pick up the rest of the duffle bags on the day of the event. We would be happy to provide you with a 501(c)(3) letter if you would like one for tax purposes.

Thank you, Corsalus Financial

Corsalus Financial is providing the decorating materials, as well as paying for shipping of the materials and credit card processing fees so you will not have any added costs. We are excited about partnering with them for this event and love their desire to serve and be a valuable resource for local families!

Reserve Your Spots

Simply select which shift you would like to attend and it will take you through the ordering process. Each adult and child will need a general admission ticket, which includes a duffle bag and supplies to decorate and pack before donating. The only exception will be babies and toddlers that will be sitting on your lap. There is limited space, so don’t wait to reserve your spots!

If you can’t attend, but still want to donate bags (which would be so appreciated!), choose a shift as if you were attending, then “Can’t Attend, but Want to Donate”. Thank you!

All the bags that were donated in 2023!

  • *I know I’m late but I am a classroom teacher and my class would like to do two bags. Was wondering if by any chance you ordered two extra? Thanks,

    • Thanks for your interest! I had to put the order in by the end of the day on Monday, January 25 to make sure the materials arrive in time for pickup. Sorry you missed it this time!
