Immersive Experiences

Calling all slime fans: you do not want to miss Sloomoo Institute Chicago. As we walked out of the doors from this experience, my kids told me it was the best day of their lives! This multi-sensory slime immersive experience had something in store in every corner we turned: a section with Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) sounds, a waterfall slime area where you get to drenched in slime, a slime lake, a DIY slime area with various textured and scented slimes all over the exhibition, photo opportunities, and more.

Features of the Sloomoo Institute Chicago

When we walked in, we were greeted by staff who explained in detail what to expect throughout our visit including receiving name tags that gave us a slime names and a ticket which would give us a DIY slime to bring home. You enter a door and you’re immediately lost in a world of colors which included outfits of the staff that were Sloomoo branded and no two were the same.

We were invited to leave a little of our experience by adding some slime to the “slime and repeat wall.” After that, the real fun began. We sniffed every single slime and cross-checked it against the boards provided to confirm if we’d guessed the right types. It was unbelievable how many scents and textures were available. The boys also had a chance to sling shot some slime into a wall.

Visitors are allowed to enjoy the experience of walking on slime through Lake Sloomoo, which also includes an obstacle course, as well as a Sloomoo pool. What I personally loved was that in between each attraction, you walk through little slime pods with different colors, textures and scents to enjoy in between. It was a nonstop sensory experience.

There was a sloomoo cove, which acted like a salt cave except it was kinetic sand slime with mirrors and a digital screen that transformed you into a digital slime figure. My kids had a blast dancing and watching the slime figure move along.

We also braved the visit and tried out Sloomoo Falls. This was an once in a lifetime experience! The staff pumped you up, everyone was cheering, and before you know it, you feel the wet slime hit. Huge kudos to the staff for making sure we were properly covered to avoid getting really slimed.

Finally the real highlight for our kids (and us, mom and dad) was creating our own slime. We ran through the starter station where we got to pick the base slime we wanted, we then moved on to picking a scent. The scents were so creative: gummy bears, various fruits, desserts, and more. It was so hard picking one because of how many choices there were. The wall of scents and how it was filled into your started slime was an experience in itself. Lastly you get to pick a color — and wow, the technology that drips powdered color into your slime is impressive. Finally, you pick up to three charms for your slime of choice, then sit and create your slime.

Your last stop is the gift shop, which had wonderful slime purchase options.

Our family’s verdict

The Sloomoo Institute experience was a dream come true for my kids. My husband and I found it to be an extremely enjoyable experience and had as much fun as my kids. The staff were wonderful in keeping the vibe fun and energetic, which made for a wonderful family day out.

We will be talking about this experience for a long time to come. It truly was a wonderful experience for all ages.

We spent about 90 minutes there. Their website mentions that on average, a visit could be around 60-90 minutes.

This is an all-ages experience great for kids 2 and up, as well as adults. The staff asks that parents of kids between 2 and 5 ensure kids don’t eat the slime, lick their hands, throw slime, or run.
