Playdate Details

The park playdate will officially start at 10:00am on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Be sure to stop by the Kidlist and Springdale Eye Care tent along the path for some giveaways and water. GoGo squeeZ will also be giving away snacks at their table. Then enjoy the playground, splash pad, and free entertainment. Here are the details on things you won’t want to miss.

Magic Show from Sparkles Entertainment

Jaime the Magician will be there with his dynamic magic show that incorporates animals and audience participation. He was at one of our playdates last year and we’re excited to have him back! His magic show is about 45 minutes and will start at 10:30am. The staff from Sparkles Entertainment are experts and we have been honored to have them at all of our playdates, providing all kinds of free fun. You can also find them in our Birthday Party Guide.

Snacks from GoGo squeeZ

Jorie from GoGo squeeZ will be handing out their delicious snack pouches. She has a great assortment for you to try! And if you get thirsty, there’s a cooler right by the Kidlist table filled with water.

Craft with Westmont Public Library

Stop by and say hi to Kristi Miller, the Manager of Youth & Teen Services at Westmont Library, while your kids enjoy making crafts! We love partnering with our local libraries because they are such an important part of our communities.

Overall Details

The Park Playdate is on Saturday, August 27 from 10-11:30am, but you are of course welcome to come early and stay later. Please note that this is not a drop-off event. We want to bring people together to make friends and have your kids play with parent/caregiver supervision.

Our park playdates will not have rain dates, so in case of inclement weather, individual playdates will be cancelled. If that happens, this article will be updated with “Cancelled” in the title, and we will post updates on Facebook and Instagram as well.

Parking

There are two parking lots for Ty Warner Park as well as street parking (please be aware that some of the streets around the park have no parking signs while others do not). The smaller lot off Burr Oak Drive is closer to the pavilion and playground areas and there is a much larger parking lot off Blackhawk and Plaza Drives.

All of the snacks and entertainment for the playdate will be closer to the Burr Oak Drive parking lot.

If you park in the larger lot, follow the path through the baseball fields and take a left when you get to the concession stand. You will see the splash pad, shelter, and train/sand playground first. Keep walking through and you will see a big kid playground to your left and pavilion up ahead. We will be between the playground areas and big pavillion with snacks, swag, and entertainment!

There is also street parking on Plaza Drive if you prefer that or both parking lots are full. You can hop on the paved path and head towards Burr Oak Drive to enter the park closest to the playgrounds. That’s where we’ll be.

Features of Ty Warner Park

Ty Warner Park is a phenomenal park with many different areas. There are two playgrounds: one with sand and equipment for smaller children, and one with a larger slide and climbing structures. There is a zip line and popular splash pad (with an admission fee) to enjoy. We also like walking the paths around the park that go past the many sports fields, concession stand, bathrooms, and gardens.

Here’s what you have to look forward to when spending the morning with us at Ty Warner Park!

The interactive game show will take place in the covered pavilion near the entrance to the park off Burr Oak Drive.

It’s a great place to relax in the shade and enjoy the view of the pond with a fountain while participating in some free entertainment!

Be sure to check out the tables along the way to the playground for snacks, water, giveaways, activities, and crafts!

Further down the path is the playground for older kids. There are plenty of opportunities to climb, slide, and play. Part of this playground area is pictured below.

You will then come across the zipline!

The playground area for smaller kids is next to the shelter and across from the splash pad.

It also has a large sand area with diggers and a popular train for pretend play.

The splash pad will be running during the park playdate. Admission is $4 for Westmont residents, $6 for non-residents, and adults are free. If you are planning on going in the splash pad, bring swimwear as it is required.

A huge thank you to Westmont Park District for offering Ty Warner Park for the first playdate! It’s been a favorite of ours for years and for Kidlist readers too. It regularly appears in our list of the 15 Best Playgrounds.
