We’ve had so much fun hosting park playdates this summer! We hope you had a good time exploring different parks, enjoying free entertainment and snacks, getting to know our site partners, and meeting some new friends. The last Kidlist Park Playdate is also brought to you by Springdale Eye Care and will be at Memorial Park in La Grange Park on Saturday, August 28 from 10-11:30am. Memorial Park has a playground, small splash pad, covered picnic area with bathrooms, fields, beach volleyball, basketball, and an ampitheatre! And we’ll be there with free entertainment, snacks, take-home crafts, and giveaways. You’re going to have a blast!

Keep reading for the features of Memorial Park that you can enjoy, the park playdate schedule so you know what’s going on at different times, where to park, and a spotlight on the Park Playdate Series sponsor, Springdale Eye Care.

Playdate Schedule

The park playdate will officially start at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Some of the Kidlist site sponsors and community partners will join us and Springdale Eye Care to welcome you with swag and activities. A few members of the Kidlist team will be there to take pictures, meet everyone, run a fun contest, and hand out water and GoGo squeeZ snacks, so look for the blue Kidlist shirts and say hello!

10:00 am
Stop by the Kidlist welcome table for snacks from GoGo squeeZ and water, then visit the other tables for giveaways, meet local businesses that partner with Kidlist to make the site possible, make a craft with Mattix Music Studio, and pick up a craft kit from La Grange Park Public Library (while supplies last). Find the balloon artist so they can twist a creation for you, compliments of Sparkles Entertainment, and visit with Moana from Princess Party Chicago!

10:15 – 10:30 am
Enjoy a Music Together® mini class with Mattix Music Studio in the lawn.

10:30 – 11:15 am
Be amazed by a magic show by the covered picnic area, compliments of Sparkles Entertainment.

You are of course welcome to come early and stay later. Please note that this is not a drop-off event. We want to bring people together to make friends and have your kids play with parent/caregiver supervision.

Our park playdates will not have rain dates, so in case of inclement weather, individual playdates will be cancelled. If that happens, this article will be updated with “Cancelled” in the title, and we will post updates on Facebook and Instagram as well.

Parking

There is a small parking lot for Memorial Park as well as plentiful street parking. Jewel is also next to the park if you need to do some grocery shopping afterwards.

When you are driving down La Grange Road, you’ll see the La Grange Park library on Oak Street, one block south of Harding Avenue (the light). Memorial Park is right behind the library.

Bathrooms

There is a permanent building with restrooms adjacent to the playground, which is also connected to the covered picnic area where the magic show will take place.

Park Features

We love working with the Community Park District of La Grange Park and are thrilled to be able to host this playdate at Memorial Park. Here’s what you have to look forward to when spending the morning with us there!

The playground has features for both big kids and small!

There also a small splash pad with sprayers, fountains, and popular trough activity station.

The covered picnic shelter will be the location for the magic show! We took this photo right around the time the show will be, so it should be nice and shaded for everyone.

Head to the field for games, such as dodgeball, wiffle ball, and kickball! A staff member from the park district will be leading fun games there.

Community Park District is also working on park improvements, including a National Fitness Court, gaga pit, pickleball courts, resurfaced tennis courts, race track and fitness walk, tether ball, and landscaping. Click here to read more about the improvements. The grand opening is scheduled for October 9, 2021.

Thanks for Joining Us This Summer!
