Where to Buy Meat, Produce, and Eggs from Local Farms

We are all looking at things a bit different lately. There is talk of a meat shortage and the supply chain is strained with everyone cooking more and buying larger quantities to stock up. While some families have been buying directly from farms for years, it makes sense that more are considering it. We thought it would be helpful to put together a list of where to buy meat, produce, and eggs from local farms. Please note that many of these farms provide a variety of products, including eggs, vegetables, and fruit, so check out all of their offerings!

Local CSAs and Farms that Fill Custom Orders

CSAs (community-supported agriculture) means that you buy a farm share for the entire season. Each week you receive a box of produce that the farm is harvesting. During periods of peak harvest, you’ll receive a larger quantity of food. It also means that if a crop doesn’t do well one year, you won’t receive that fruit or vegetable. It’s a great way to support local farms, share the risk that they incur while receiving extremely fresh food. Farm to table!

You can also order from farms directly! Many of these farms offer custom ordering with drop off locations in the Chicago suburbs. We listed the towns in the Kidlist area where you can pick up the food you ordered from each farm and you can click on the farm name for more information, product lists, order forms, and additional pick up locations.
