It’s time to celebrate like it’s 1776! 4th of July fireworks are everywhere throughout the west and northwest suburbs, so get ready to ooh and aah at the skies this Independence Day. To round out the festivities, you’ll also find parades, festivals, and family 5ks.

2024 4th of July Festivities in the Western Suburbs
4th of July Fireworks and Parade in Aurora
July 3, 2024 | fireworks at 9:00pm
July 4, 2024 | parade begins 10:00am
The parade winds through downtown Aurora, kicking off at 10:00am. The best views will be at the stand found in front of David L. Pierce Art and History Center, at 20 East Downer Place. In the evening, join the fun starting at 6:00pm at RiverEdge Park or McCullough Park, where you’ll find DJs playing music as you await the fireworks display. Wilder Park and Promenade will also be home to food trucks starting at 5:00pm.
Bensenville’s LibertyFest
July 4, 2024 | 10:00am – 10:00pm
The parade kicks off at 10:00am, starting at 12 S. Center Street and ending at Redmond Recreational Complex. Food, DJ, and live music entertainment begin at 6:00pm at Redmond Recreational Complex. The annual fireworks display takes place from the Bensenville Public Works Facility at 717 E. Jefferson Street, beginning at approximately 9:30pm.
Carol Stream’s 4th of July Parade and Fireworks
Carol Stream Town Center: 960 N. Gary Avenue, Carol Stream, IL 60188
July 4, 2024 | 10:00am, evening festivities begin at 6:00pm
Celebrate the 4th of July with this long-standing Carol Stream tradition. The parade runs along Lies Road, between County Farm Road and Fountain View Drive. Visit Carol Stream Town Center starting at 6:00pm, for the Hillbilly Rockstarz concert beginning at 7:00pm. Stay for the fireworks afterwards.
Independence Day Parade in Downers Grove

Downers Grove celebrates their annual parade heading south down Main Street.
Glen Ellyn’s 4th of July Parade and Fireworks
July 4, 2024 | 12:00pm – 10:00pm
The parade runs along Fawell Boulevard this year, between Lambert Road to Park Boulevard. The fireworks display takes place at Lake Ellyn Park at dusk. Don’t forget the Freedom Four 4Mile Run on the morning of the 4th.
Hinsdale’s Fourth of July Parade and Festivities
July 4, 2024 | 10:00am – 4:00pm
The parade, beginning at 10:00am, is following along Garfield Street, to 1st Street, to Grant Street. The post-parade family-friendly festivities run from 11:00am – 3:00pm at Burlington Park, with the craft fair running from 10:00am – 4:00pm.
Independence Day Extravaganza in Lemont

Lisle Independence Day Celebration
July 3 – 4, 2024 | times vary
Live music will begin at 5:30pm on July 3 at Lisle Park District’s Van Kampen Stage. Music will continue until the fireworks at dusk. The parade will run through downtown Lisle on July 4, starting at Lisle Junior High, and finishing at Village Hall. Museums at Lisle Station Park will be hosting an ice cream social after the parade, at approximately 10:45am.
Naperville Salute and 4th of July Fireworks Display

Naperville Salute
Rotary Hill: 443 Aurora Avenue, Naperville, IL 60540
The official schedule for Naperville Salute has not been released yet, but in years past, it is filled with local bands, family fun, and food. Check their website for the full schedule for more details about this annual event held at Rotary Hill.
Naperville Fireworks
Frontier Park: 3380 Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville, IL 60564
Fireworks will be on the southern part of town, held at Frontier Park on July 4. You can watch from Frontier Park, or at nearby Neuqua Valley High School.
July 3rd Celebration and Fireworks in North Aurora

North Riverside July 4th Celebration
July 4, 2024 | 10:00am and 6:00pm – 9:00pm
The parade, which kicks off at 10:00am, ends in Veterans Park, with evening festivities at Village Commons. Visitors will find music, food, and drinks for sale, with the fireworks starting at approximately 9:15pm.
Last year’s festivities were held at Riverfront Park. More details to come.
Taste of Oak Brook

Join the fun at the Village Sports Core Fields for this annual event, and finish the night off with a beautiful fireworks display.
July 4th Parade in Oak Park
July 4, 2024 | begins at 10:00am
The parade will kick off on the morning of July 4th, beginning at Longfellow Park.
Romeoville Fireworks
July 3, 2024 | 9:30pm
Romeoville is doing three simultaneous fireworks displays on July 3, designed to avoid crowding and see the fireworks. The locations of each show are Lukancic Middle School at 725 Normantown Road, Volunteer Park at 1100 Murphy Drive, and Discovery Park at 300 S. Highpoint Drive.
St. Charles July 4th Celebration and Fireworks
July 4, 2024 | Viewing parks open dawn to 11:00pm
The fireworks display was moved to Langum Park in 2023 to allow for a wider range of viewing. The St. Charles Park District will be flying a red balloon starting at noon, so spectators can confirm they will be able to see the fireworks display later that evening. Both Langum Park and Mt. St. Mary Park are viewing areas, with food trucks will open at 4:00pm.
Independence Day Parade in Villa Park

The parade theme for 2024 is “One Flag, One Nation”, with a route approximately 2 miles long through Villa Park.
Warrenville 4th of July Festivities

This year’s festival runs for two days in Cerny Park. Warrenville’s parade kicks off the fun at 6:00pm on July 3, and ends with the fireworks display at 9:30pm on July 4. With the annual Firecracker 5k, there’s a lot to celebrate this year in Warrenville.
Westmont’s Independence Day Celebration
July 4, 2024 | festivities begin at 4:00pm
Fireworks in Ty Warner Park cap off an evening of fun including food vendors, games, music and more. Fireworks start at 9:30pm.
Wheaton Independence Day Celebration Fireworks and Parade

Once darkness falls on July 3, enjoy a great fireworks display over Graf Park. The annual parade through the streets of downtown Wheaton steps off at 10:00am on July 4. Find more details about the parade route, which runs along Main Street before winding through downtown Wheaton.
Yorkville Parade and Fireworks
July 4, 2024 | 9:00am – 12:00pm and dusk
The Yorkville 4th of July Parade will kick off at 9:00am. The parade route is posted on their website. Following the parade, Yorkville Town Square, found at 301 N. Bridge Street, will be host of various activities, running until 12:00pm. The fireworks show will take place at dusk, near the corner of Route 47 and Countryside Parkway.

Frontier Days 4th of July Parade in Arlington Heights

The 4th of July parade, which travels down Dunton Avenue ending at Recreation Park, is just one part of the Frontier Days festivities, which runs from July 3 – 7, 2024.
Barrington’s 4th of July Fireworks and Festivities
July 2, 2024 | 9:30pm – 10:00pm
The Village of Barrington will host fireworks at Barrington High School on July 2, with the 4th of July Parade kicking off at 10:00am on July 4.
Community Fireworks in Des Plaines
June 30, 2024 | 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Fireworks will be over Oakton College on June 30 at dusk, with festivities beginning at 7:00pm. The Independence Day Parade will be on July 4 through downtown Des Plaines.
Elgin Parade and Fireworks
July 4, 2024 | all day festivities
Elgin’s annual parade kicks off at 9:00am, running south on Douglas Avenue between Slade Avenue and Highland Avenue, ending near City Hall. Evening festivities will be at Festival Park, culminating with a firework display around 9:30pm.
4th of July Celebration in Glendale Heights

Join the festivities at GH20, which will be running all day long.
4th of July Parade in Hoffman Estates

The 4th of July parade will take place along Illinois Boulevard on the July 4, with the fireworks starting at 9:30pm on July 6. There will also be a drone lights show on July 5, starting at 9:30pm.

Elmhurst hosts a 4 (miles) on the 4th race (CARA’s 2015 Race of the Year) which kicks off at 7:15 am; there’s a kids’ 1k race at 8:25 am. Run early, celebrate all day!
