2021 Summer Festivals: They’re Back!

After a quiet summer last year, summer festivals are back for 2021! Just thinking about the smell of fresh popcorn, the sound of live microphones, and the flashing lights of the tilt-a-whirl has me excited. Before you go, make sure to click the links for details on advance ticket sales and safety protocols. Many organizations may have had to make modifications to their usual procedures, but that won’t stop you from having a great time at these summer festivals in the western suburbs. Carnival rides, live music, delicious food and prizes will fill your day with family fun.

2021 Summer Festivals in the Western Suburbs

La Grange Carnival (La Grange)
June 4 6, 2021 | times vary daily
Carnival rides, games, food and lots of fun.

Cavalcade of Planes 2021 (Clow Airport, Bolingbrook)
June 5 – 6, 2021 | 10:00am – 4:00pm
Take a look inside, watch them fly or even reserve a seat in advance for one of the planes at Cavalcade of Planes.

Summer Carnival (Prairie Point Park, Oswego)
June 17 – 20, 2021 | times tba
Laser light shows, games, carnival rides, and countless more ways for family fun will be at Prairie Point Park all weekend long.

Swedish Days (Geneva)
June 24 – 27, 2021 | times vary
With modifications in place, this annual Geneva tradition is ready to go on in 2021.

Pet Walk Festival 2021 (Hinsdale Humane Society)
June 26, 2021 | 10:00am – 12:00pm or 12:30pm – 2:30pm
Kids activities, a 1-mile walk, and photo opportunities are all a part of this fundraising day for Hinsdale Humane Society.

101 Years: Party in the Park (Berwyn)
June 26, 2021 | 11:00am – 2:00pm
Celebrate the Berwyn Park District’s centennial (plus 1) birthday with kids activities, live music, food and prizes.

Naperville Fine Art & Artisan Fair (Naper Settlement)
June 26 – 27, 2021 | 10:00am – 5:00pm
This annual event features over 100 vendors, with live music and games for all guests.

Fourth of July Festivities (Glen Ellyn)
July 3 and 4, 2021
The Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta, Freedom 4 miler, carnival games, entertainment, a parade and fireworks are all hoping to be a part of the plans in 2021.

LibertyFest (Bensenville)
July 4, 2021
Libertyfest kicks off with live entertainment, games, and food, then ends with a fireworks display. The parade will resume in 2022.

Taste of Westmont
July 8-11, 2021
Entertainment, food, and a carnival.

Glendale Heights Fest (Glendale Heights)
July 14 – 18, 2021
Five days of rides, games, activities and bands for the whole family. Check their website and Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.

Family Fun Fest (Butterfield Park District, Lombard)
July 24, 2021 | 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Must register in advance for this free event at the Recreation and Aquatic Center. Listen to music and purchase raffle tickets at this day of family fun.

North Riverside Block Party
July 24, 2021 | 4:30pm – 9:30pm
Kids activities, carnival games, contests, live music, and food.

Taste of Roselle (Roselle)
July 30 – August 1, 2021
Bring your family and come out and enjoy the great food, live entertainment, carnival, bingo tent, and craft fair.

Naperville Irish Fest (Frontier Park)
August 6 – 7, 2021 | times tba
Join this new event filled with cultural activities, food and music.

Endless Summerfest (La Grange)
August 6-8, 2021
Live music, food, beer, carnival rides, fireworks, and classic cars.

Naperville Food Truck Festival
August 7, 2021 | times tba
This delicious event will features over 30 food truck vendors and live music.

Park Palooza (Berens Park, Elmhurst)
August 21, 2021 | 5:00pm
End-of-summer music, food trucks, face painting and kids activities.

Festival of the Arts (Glen Ellyn)
August 28 – 29, 2021 | 10:00am – 5:00pm
Fine arts show with live music at Lake Ellyn.

Red, White, and BBQ (Westmont)
September 3 – 5, 2021
The Lion’s Club Red, White & Bar-B-Q is a BBQ competition and festival with a carnival, live music and food vendors.

PrairieFest (Oswego)
September 3 – 6, 2021
Live entertainment, parade, carnival, food and expo.

Last Fling (Naperville)
September 3 – 6, 2021
Family fun land, pony rides, petting zoo, bounce houses, family entertainment stage, crafts area, food and beverages.

Septemberfest (Bloomingdale)
Saturday, September 11, 2021
Kicks off with a parade that ends in Old Town Park. Also, stage performances, car show, family-friendly carnival rides and games (at the St. Paul Church parking lot), a variety of food and craft vendors and a Lions Club beer tent.
