Summer Festivals Are Back in Full Force for 2022

Let’s be honest: we tolerate winters in Chicago because we love the summers, and what could be better than a summer festival? Carnival rides, live music, delicious food on a stick, face painting, and so much more. Besides the carnival areas, many festivals offer kid zones or special entertainment for family-friendly outings. Keep this list handy throughout the summer when you’re looking to maximize your summertime fun.

2022 Summer Festivals in the Western Suburbs

Glen Ellyn Carnival

Red, White, and BBQ (Westmont)

The Lion’s Club Red, White & Bar-B-Q is a BBQ competition and festival with a carnival, live music and food vendors.

Summerfest (Villa Park)

Festivities will be going all day, but the kids’ attractions and entertainment are from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.

Swedish Days (Geneva)

Gathering on the Green is a fun-filled evening of local food, live music, entertainment, and activities for kids… all located on the Tower Green in downtown Western Springs.

Come and enjoy numerous fun activities for all age groups, including pony rides, a petting zoo, laser tag, pop-a-shot, climbing wall, airbrush tattoos, balloon artist, face painting, bounce houses, and a mega slide!

Enjoy a taste of Western Springs while relaxing at one of the picnic tables. There will even be a beer garden set up with tables and umbrellas!

Pet Walk Festival 2022 (Hinsdale Humane Society)

Kids activities, a 1-mile walk, and photo opportunities are all a part of this fundraising day for Hinsdale Humane Society.

This is the 53rd year celebrating the Festival of the Arts. Stop through Lake Ellyn Park and support local artists.

Last Fling (Naperville)

Family fun land, pony rides, petting zoo, bounce houses, family entertainment stage, crafts area, food and beverages.

Septemberfest (Bloomingdale)

Kicks off with a parade that ends in Old Town Park. Also, stage performances, car show, family-friendly carnival rides and games (at the St. Paul Church parking lot), a variety of food and craft vendors and a Lions Club beer tent.
