Often, the true meaning of Christmas gets lost in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Take some time out from the shopping and gift wrapping to remember the miracle of the first Christmas at a live nativity. Volunteers from all around join live animals to reenact the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to the manger where they celebrated the birth of Jesus. Start a memorable family tradition this holiday season that is sure to amaze both children and adults!

This outdoor reenactment will feature live animals with music and hot beverages to warm your spirits.
Journey of Joy at Faith Christian Reformed Church (Tinley Park)
December 1 & 2, 2018 | 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm, guided 40-minute tours begin every 10 minutes
Actors of all ages tell the real Christmas story in 9 different scenes throughout the church. The guided tours are handicap-accessible. Enjoy hot chocolate and homemade cookies while you wait!
A Night in Bethlehem (Palos Heights)

Experience what life was like at the time of Jesus’ birth with sights, sounds, smells, and hands-on activities. Registration is required for one of the three tour times available and space is limited.
Pilgrimage to the Manger at The Center (Palos Park)

The night starts in the Lodge, where everyone puts on Judean head scarves to follow Mary and Joseph on their pilgrimage to the manger. Then, it’s across the bridge to the farm, where the shepherds with their sheep and the Magi on horseback will join the pilgrimage. Free-will donations are appreciated. Children can come early to be part of the nativity and help the congregation reenact the birth of Jesus. Stay after for cookies and to pet the live animals.
