Parks & Playgrounds

Willow Pond Park and Splash Pad in Willowbrook, completed in June 2018, is the perfect park for kids 2-5 years old. It features a playground with a soft, rubbery surface and the splash pad is perfect for little ones. There is also a pond with a path and two smaller playground areas along the walk.

The frog with water spouting from its mouth is one of the main attractions. It’s unique and super fun to run through and climb on. The splash pad also has a few other fountains and one really small one, which is perfect for babies.

The playground is also perfect for 2-7 year olds with small monkey bars, two different slides, rock formation for climbing, accessible ramps and spinner, along with a few different types of swings.

The trees provide some shade, in the grassy areas, but the benches, playgrounds, and splash pad is completely in the sun. We brought towels to set up in the shade of a tree when we needed a break from the rays.

The path around the pond leads to two smaller playgrounds along the way. One with a dragonfly seesaw:

And the other with a couple climbing structures:

Bring a lunch or snacks to enjoy in the picnic shelters with plenty of shade and tables. You can grill there or head down Plainfield toward Route 83 for a variety of restaurants, including MOD Pizza, Meatheads, Chick fil A, Portillo’s, and more.

The adjacent Willow Pond has a fountain and is stocked with fish. So if you would like to go catch and release fishing, this is a nice spot.

There are also bathrooms here, which is a huge plus.

Directions to Willow Pond Park and Splash Pad

Willow Pond Park can be found on Adams Street off Plainfield Road. It’s a little tricky to find because the Willow Pond sign facing Plainfield is set back a bit. Adams Street is between Madison and Route 83 on the north side of the street. Turn north on Adams and you’ll see the park and splash pad on the right. There are perpendicular parking spots right in front.

Hours for Willow Pond Splash Pad

Willow Pond Splash Pad is open 10am-5pm Monday through Friday and 11am-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The water sprays are button-activated and work between those hours. The bathroom building is open May 1 through October 31 each year.

Other Ideas in the Area

Down the street from Willow Pond is Darien Community Park! Head west on Plainfield, cross Route 83 and you will see this new playground on the right, off Clarendon Hills Road. MOD Pizza, Meatheads, Chick fil A, Portillo’s, and other restaurants are on the corner of Plainfield Road and Route 83.
