The new Darien Community Playground was completed in June 2018 and features a soft, rubbery surface. The playground is completely fenced in with an area with climbing equipment and another section with interactive play houses.
The first section for older children has slides, places to climb and two spinning roundabouts where children can be pushed. The adjacent area is wonderful for smaller children and features multiple interactive “houses” that can be explored. These include a musical house, a theatre, lemonade stand, weather station and a fire truck.
Playing at the musical house was a favorite of ours. We enjoyed being able to bang on the drums and xylophone. Across from the drums you can also press the buttons on the piano to create a song.
Go to the stage at the theatre where children can let their imagination run wild while performing. Next is the weather station which has levers that you can push to raise the thermometer. It also has gears to turn to change the forecast.
Another bonus is the large sand area that children can enjoy as well as places children and parents alike can sit and have snacks.
The playground is perfect for children of all ages and a great place to go on a nice summer day!
