Mustang Trot 5k Run and Walk

The 2023 Mustang Trot 5k Run/Walk is on April 16 at 9:00 am!

​This year’s philanthropy is the Gift of Hope Community Foundation, which raises funds for education, research & development and programs for the families of organ and tissue donors through Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. Gift of Hope is the non-profit that coordinates organ and tissue donation in Illinois and northwest Indiana. Besides working closely with hospitals and many other partners to save and heal the lives of as many people as possible who need organ and tissue transplants, Gift of Hope provides extensive support to donor families and works to educate the public about registering their decisions to be life-saving donors. This charity is really personal to DGS and Key Club as late last year a mom of one of our Key Club officers suffered a sudden brain aneurysm and passed away leaving the community heartbroken. We want to honor her and give thanks to Gift of Hope who did everything they could to comfort the family and managed to successfully give 5 people new organs. Rebecca Meyers Tomecki’s legacy lives on in them and in our school and we are happy with any donation that will help make this Mustang Trot 5K our best one ever in memory of her kindness and generosity.

The race will begin and end on Norfolk, by the visitor parking lot. Pre and Post-race festivities will take place in the Large Gym. Packet Pickup will be Saturday, April 15th from 10 am – 1 pm at DGS.
