Juneteenth in Aurora

June 19, 2023, 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Held on Juneteenth โ€“ Monday, June 19 – the Summit will be an empowering and educational experience for young leaders in middle school, high school, and college, complete with inspiring and informative sessions designed to help them grow and develop as an individual.

The Summit will feature a keynote address from the youngest Black Mayor in America, Mayor Jaylen Smith of Earle, Arkansas, who made history when he was elected mayor of his hometown at just 18 years old!

Additional speakers will provide insight on topics such as education, entrepreneurship, and equity in action. Attendees will also participate in interactive activities to help them learn the value of self-advocacy and the importance of building a strong network of resources to support their career and educational goals.

At the end of the morning, participants will be honored at the Aurora Juneteenth Flag Raising immediately following the Summit, with special recognition for the Class of 2023 high school and college grads in attendance. Donโ€™t miss this powerful opportunity to grow, learn, and lead!

Following the summit, come to 8 E. Galena Bouvelard for a Flag Raising and ceremony.
