As we move into the winter months, we know our Kidlist readers are looking for opportunities to get out of the house and play. The Fun Playce, which just opened its doors in Naperville, is a fun environment for young kids to explore, learn, and burn off some energy. Read more below about what you’ll find when you visit this new spot for indoor play!
Features of The Fun Playce
Play Structure
The main attraction of The Fun Playce is a large indoor climbing structure. With slides, climbing tunnels, ropes, and ramps, your child will burn off every bit of energy they have. It’s just big enough for your children to keep busy, but not so big that you’re losing sight of where they are. At the front of the play space, visitors will find two ride-on smaller rollercoaster rides.
Toddler Play
At the back of the space, The Fun Playce has a fenced-in area for toddlers and infants. With smaller foam mats, puzzles, building blocks, push toys, parents will appreciate this designated area away from the larger kids playing. Given that it is right next to the main play structure, but still contained, parents can still actively see their older children playing, while staying closer to their little ones.
Pretend and Creative Play
There is also a corner of imaginative, pretend play, including a kitchen, grocery store, and various dress up items. Visitors will also find a train and vehicle table, as well as larger, foam LEGO blocks for building. I appreciate the balance of energy these areas bring compared to the more physical play on the climbing structure.
Sensory and Nursing Room
Located near the bathrooms, visitors will find a small room with sensory activities, bean bags chairs, a bookshelf, and a rocker. This is a great spot for those needing a sensory break, or for mothers looking to feed their children in private.
Food
Guests will find a menu of snacks available for purchase, including candy, goldfish, applesauce, juice, bottled waters, etc. No outside food is allowed. The Fun Playce is located less than a mile from the Fox Valley Mall, which is surrounded by countless restaurants, if you’re looking for a meal before or after your play session. Please note: re-entry is not allowed at The Fun Playce, so make sure you plan your visit to maximize your fun!
Bathrooms
The bathrooms are located just off to the side of the main play space. Each bathroom is equipped with a changing table and diaper genie.
Hours and Prices
The Fun Playce is open from 9:30am – 6:00pm Tuesdays through Sundays. Drop-in play during these times is $18. A 10-pass visit can be purchased for $150. Waivers can be filled out online in advance if you’d like to expedite your check-in process. Birthday party packages are also available, as they feature two private party rooms.
Recommended Ages for The Fun Playce
The Fun Playce recommends guests 7 and under play in their space, as that is the best size to match the climbing structure along with the age-appropriate toys. My 6-year old spent most of his time on the climbing structure, but also loved to check out the pretend play area and the large LEGOs. There is a designated, fenced-in area for toddlers and infants, which is great if you’re nervous about runners or crawlers.
Best Days/Times To Go
Indoor play spaces like The Fun Playce generally fill up in the morning, before littles need to get home for an afternoon nap. Weekends will also be busier than weekdays.
