Summer is upon us, and outdoor amusement parks are a great way to get the family together, get outside, and create some magical memories! Here is a list of all the Chicagoland outdoor amusement parks. Please check their websites for special events, pricing, and hours.

Chicagoland Outdoor Amusement Parks

Donley’s Wild West Town

This park is just like walking into an old West town! Kids will experience panning for gold, pony rides, archery, lazy canoes, roping, hand carts, a small roller coaster, practicing with sling shots, a stunt show, and more! Haunted Trails Burbank

Haunted Trails is a not-so-scary Halloween themed park with as much to do outside as there is inside! The outdoor park offers mini-golf, go-karts, batting cages, and a few other small rides. Inside is an arcade arena with plenty of ways to try your luck. Admission and parking are free, all attractions are pay-as-you-play.

The Joliet location offers similar attractions to the Burbank location, with the addition of a speedway, tornado ride,  and laser tag. Admission and parking are free, all attractions are pay-as-you-play.

Hollywood Park

This park offers as much fun outside as it does inside! The outdoor attractions include two mini-golf courses, a giant slide, a Viking ride, a go-kart track (children ride as an adult’s passenger. Indoors there is a two-story arcade and bumper cars. Admission and parking are free. Attractions are pay-as-you-play.

This family-friendly spot features Go-karts, batting cages, mini-golf, and water balloon launching game. All attractions are pay-as-you-play.

In addition to an indoor arcade, the Tinley Park location offers outdoor fun including zip lines, speed boats, bumper boats, batting cages, Go-karts, inflatables and more. Click here for pricing information.

Pirate’s Cove

This park opens Memorial Day weekend through September 9.  Click here for hours and special events.
Specially designed for children ages one through nine. The park offers pirate themed paddle boats, carousel, Castle of Camelot playground, a bounce house, a giant slide, 20-foot climbing wall, a pirate ship ride, and the Safari Express train. All attractions are included with admission.

Santa’s Village Azoosment Park

This is a huge park (and my kids’ favorite) which offers more than two dozen rides specifically geared for the under 10 crowd, lots of animals and animal encounters throughout the park, and of course, SANTA! All attractions and shows are included with admission.

Six Flags Great America

The amusement park is open through December. The water park is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Click here for daily hours and operating schedule.
Six Flags is a huge park, and with the water park could easily be a weekend getaway for the family. The park boasts more than a dozen roller coasters, children’s area, parades, shows, and sometimes fireworks. Check here for admission prices as well as information on annual passes if you plan to go frequently.

Kristen is a Burbank native who settled with her family in New Lenox in 2016. She loves her new neighborhood and could not be happier with her new home.
