It Might Rain (Or Snow!) On Halloween, So Bookmark These Indoor Events

Don’t let the unpredictable Chicago weather bring down your Halloween fun! One year we are trick-or-treating in t-shirts, and the next we need our winter coats. This year, there’s even a chance of snow. These indoor Halloween events, from indoor trick-or-treating to Halloween-themed family movies, will keep your family warm and dry as you enjoy the holiday festivities.

2019 Indoor Halloween Events

Monster Mash at Yorktown Center (Lombard)
October 31, 2019 | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
FIT4MOM Stroller Strides community class, magic show, face painting, balloon artist, music, pumpkin painting, raffles, and sweet treats (face painting and balloon artist lines may close early due to demand).

Trick for Treats (Aurora)
October 31, 2019 | 9:30 – 10:30 am or 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Halloween-themed indoor games, an obstacle course, and preschool gymnastics for ages 6 months through 6 years old.

Preschool Halloween Party (Hinsdale)
October 31, 2019 | 10:00 – 11:00 am
Listen to music, play games, and do a Halloween art project at the library for ages 1-5 years old.

Halloween Party for Babies & Toddlers (La Grange)
October 31, 2019 | 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
Free Halloween activities, games, and fun for babies and toddlers at Gemini Gymnastics.

Blodgett House Boo Fest (Downers Grove)
October 31, 2019 | 3:00 –  6:00 pm
Trick-or-treating and a scavenger hunt at the Victorian-era Blodgett House, which will be decked out for Halloween.

Stratford Scare – Trick or Treating (Bloomingdale)
October 31, 2019 | 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Trick or treat in the mall at participating stores.

Bass Pro Great Pumpkin Celebration (Bolingbrook)
October 31, 2019 | 4:00 – 8:00 pm
Trick-or treating starts at 5:00 pm. Costume parade begins at 6:00 pm. Website lists additional days for Halloween fun.

Halloween Fun Fair (Westmont)

Trick-or-treating, prizes, carnival games, a bounce house, pizza, popcorn and soda.

Trick or Treating at Fox Valley Mall (Aurora)

Trick or treat at the mall at stores designated by signs in their windows.

Halloween Carnival (Hodgkins)
October 31, 2019 | 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Carnival games at this indoor Halloween event with prizes for kids from preschool to 6th grade.

Family Halloween Movie (Downers Grove)
October 31, 2019 | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Bring a blanket and pillow and watch “Hocus Pocus” with your family.

All Hallows Eve (Burr Ridge)
October 31, 2019 | 6:00 – 8:30 pm
Trick or treat, cookie walk, crafts, snacks, hot cider, magician, Traveling World of Reptiles, enchanted playground, popcorn and more at this indoor Halloween event.

Lions Club Halloween Party (Darien)

Halloween fun after trick-or-treating. Games with prizes, ice skating, a magician and other entertainment.

Disney In Concert: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (Chicago)
October 31, 2019 | 7:30 – 9:30 pm
Participate in a costume contest and celebrate Halloween with a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas.


If you already have an indoor plan (that’s not listed above) for a potentially rainy Halloween, please let us know where you’re headed! And, in addition to these events, another indoor idea (that’s thoughtful, too!) is to trick-or-treat at your local nursing home. While many nursing homes happily host these types of events, be sure to call ahead to confirm necessary details.
