2019 Family-Friendly Halloween Events

We added even more family-friendly Halloween fun! Thank you to all of the local businesses, organizations, and community members that contributed to this awesome list of all the festive events going on this month.

Halloween is a time to scare, but also a time to share- share fun memories with your little ones and families. Luckily for you, the west and southwest suburbs have no shortage of spooky and spook-free family halloween events! October weekends are packed full of activities that will give you a chance to show off your costume a few more times. Use our guide below to find an event that suits you!

Something’s brewing at Flying High! Join them for their Halloween Bash Pizza Fun Night on Friday, October 25 from 7-10pm. Ages 5 and up are invited! A night full of active play in our facility complete with a Costume Contest, Mummy Relay, Pizza, Lemonade, and Witches’ Brew Cosmic Snos for only $1.  Please make sure costumes are unrestrictive and allow for safe active play. Register for this Halloween Event on their website by 11:59pm Wednesday 10/23 to receive the pre-registration discount of $15/child. Register after the discount period for $20 online or at the door!

Cosley Zoo Pumpkin Fest (Wheaton)
October 1 – 31, 2019
Pumpkins, gourds, apples, cider, corn stalks, and straw bales for sale. Regular admission applies, additional fees for rides.

Morton Arboretum Trick or Trees (Lisle)
Weekends in October, 2019 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Games, crafts, and tree seeds to plant and take home. All included in park admission.

Boo at the Zoo (Brookfield)
Weekends October 12 – 27, 2019 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Halloween events throughout the day: a costume parade, hayrides, crafts, pumpkin smashing, and giant pumpkin carving. Also, there are times each day the animals get pumpkins to eat and play with.

Thursday night only! Bring your little thrill-seeker out to experience Oak Brook’s spectacular haunted maze as many times as you’d like, in the daylight! Scary scenes will be set up, but there will be no actors or spooky special effects.

Families are encouraged to come in costume and celebrate the colorful fall season during Pumpkin Palooza at DuPage Children’s Museum on Saturday, October 26, 2019. This family-favorite event includes musical performances, unique creation stations, a touch-a-tractor (9 am – 1 pm), and more. Explore the Museum’s hands-on exhibits, create your own FrankenBuddy, scoop and squish in gooey pumpkin guts, and get a fun, temporary “scare-do” from KidSnips. There will also be a Bring Your Own Pumpkin Makerspace where we will have all the supplies needed to trick out your pumpkin, from carving to embellishing. Carve out time for some family fun!

Kids and families are invited to enjoy lots of fun activities, games and goodies at the Naperville Park District’s Halloween Happening, presented by Woody Buick/GMC. This free event takes place from 1:00–4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27 at the Grand Pavilion at the Naperville Riverwalk, just west of Centennial Beach. Enjoy an autumn afternoon outdoors with your children in a beautiful setting, with parking and restrooms nearby. Designed for children ages 10 and under, the event features Halloween-themed games, where kids can collect treats and win prizes. Other fun activities include a variety of inflatables and a lineup of children’s entertainment. Food trucks will bring snacks and beverages for purchase. Everyone is welcome to wear a family-friendly costume.
