‘Tis the season to get outside and celebrate the holidays. Store-front windows filled with snowmen, reindeer lining the streets, elves hidden in downtown shops, and rows of beautifully-decorated trees fill your neighborhood parks. Below you’ll find the list of winter and holiday walks to help your family socially distance while celebrating the holidays this December. Use the map to find the locations of Reindeer on Parade, as well as businesses participating in Holiday Painted Windows.

Christmas Tree Lane (Batavia)
now through December 21, 2020
Vote for your favorite tree after visiting Christmas Tree Lane on the Batavia Riverwalk.

Penguin Contest (Elmhurst)
November 23, 2020 – January 4, 2021
Find over 100 plush penguins hidden in the windows of stores. Don’t forget a contest game card to enter for raffle prizes!

Downtown Downers Grove Gingerbread Man Hunt
November 27 – December 23, 2020
While the Gingerbread Festival is not happening in 2020, many businesses are still participating in the Gingerbread Man Hunt. Happy hunting!

Come Find the Elves Around Town (Downtown Naperville)
November 27 – December 23, 2020
Print your Elf passport ahead of time to help you find elves in store windows or inside businesses.

Festive Window Displays (La Grange)
Beginning November 28, 2020
Walk through the festive window displays throughout downtown La Grange. There are also photo ops in front of and next to Village Hall with a sleigh and large lit ornaments.

Holiday Tree Trail (St. Charles)
Beginning November 28, 2020
Enjoy this holiday walk down the 1st Street Water Front Walkway.

Where’s Rudolph? Scavenger Hunt (Wood Dale)
November 30 – December 13, 2020
Registered families will receive their first clue via email. Participants are asked to take pictures of themselves with various clues around town.

Christmas Trees on the Tower Green (Western Springs)
Beginning the first week of December, 2020
Stop by and see all of the beautifully decorated trees. See if you can spot the Kidlist one!

Rosie the Snowman – Painted Windows (Naperville)
December 1 – 31, 2020
Wander the streets of downtown Naperville to find Rosie the Snowman painted on various windows.

Clarendon Christmas Trees
December 1 – 31, 2020
Businesses, families, and organizations can sponsor trees that will be displayed around town.

Tree Lighting in Wilder Park (Elmhurst)
Facebook Live Event on December 3, 2020 | 6:00pm
Join for the lighting ceremony, or stop by Wilder Park any day after to look at all of the decorated trees.

Homer for the Holidays and Snowman Lane (Heritage Park, Homer Glen)
December 5, 2020 – January 3, 2021
Find 48 life-size snowmen scattered throughout the light display at Heritage Park.

Hinsdale Holiday Trees
Winners announced December 7
Decorated trees will be displayed at Burlington Park. Trees will remain through the season.

Gingerbread Scavenger Hunt (Berwyn)
December 7, 2020 – January 4, 2021
7 different gingerbread men are hidden across 7 different Berwyn parks. Complete and submit your form by January 4 to be entered to win a prize.

Christmas Tree Decorating Contest (Downers Grove Museum Campus)
December 10 – 15, 2020
Trees will be judged on Facebook from December 2 – 9, 2020, but will remain up from December 10 – 15, 2020 for public viewing.

Reindeer Rescue (Warrenville)
December 11 – 20, 2020
Santa’s reindeer are lost throughout Warrenville. Register to receive your first clue to help rescue them all!

Holly Days: Trees around Veterans Memorial Park (Westmont)
Trees in Veterans Memorial Park are being decorated the first week in December by local organizations.

A reader gave us a tip that the Cicero Community Park is decked out with lit trees surrounding the park, making it a nice walk.
