Some fall farms hand you a wristband at the gate and then charge you again at every turn. Konow’s Corn Maze in Homer Glen isn’t one of them. We kept finding more to do, and almost all of it was covered by admission. It’s a working farm, which gives the whole place a real, not-a-theme-park feel, and it delivers exactly the fall day you picture when you think “pumpkin season.”

Two Corn Mazes
Konow’s has two mazes. The big one winds through about 3.4 miles of twists and turns, for serious maze fans. The small one is about 0.4 miles, perfect for little legs or anyone who just wants the fun of walking through tall corn.
Tractor Rides and Pony Rides
There are three types of tractor rides, and you can ride all of them!
- Hay ride, the classic
- Pumpkin train
- Cow train, with the smallest compartments, so it’s the one the little ones will love
On weekends, there are pony rides, too.
Where the Kids Will Want to Spend All Day
- Two jumping pillows, with seating and food all around them. Parents can sit, snack, and actually relax while the kids bounce.
- Three huge corn pits in an enclosed area
- A giant straw bale pyramid, also enclosed. It’s huge!
- A treehouse-style play structure with climbing, pretend play, and a bridge
- A tire playground
- Bounce house
- A basketball tractor for shooting practice
- Strength-tester games, the kind where you swing a mallet to see how high you can ring the bell
Meet the Animals
There are two barns full of animals: pigs, donkeys, goats, cows, and sheep. The piglets were the stars of our visit, and they’re so cute. They have feed cups available for $1 and you can pet the animals with or without feed.
Weekend Extras
On Saturdays and Sundays, Konow’s adds even more: live bands, pony rides, a balloon artist, a magician, face painters, a shooting gallery, and a shopping area.
The Food
Come hungry! The corn on the cob and apple cider donuts were our highlights, both of which were delicious. The menu also includes a cheeseburger, pizza, Chicago-style hot dogs, buffalo chicken nachos, steak and veggie boats, popcorn, ice cream, and funnel cakes. For grown-ups, there are three full-service bars.
The Game Room
There’s also an enclosure with midway carnival games and gem mining. These cost extra, but the duck races are free and we had fun taking pictures in the jailhouse.
The Farm Store
The general store is stocked for fall, Halloween, and Christmas. You’ll find pumpkins, mums, corn stalks, gourds, straw bales, and Indian corn, plus candles, candy, toys, jams, popcorn, stuffed animals, and unique gifts. There are also great photo spots, like a house covered with pumpkins on shelves all the way around.

- Monday–Friday: $18 per person (ages 3 and up)
- Saturday, Sunday, and Columbus Day: $20 per person
- Ages 2 and younger: Free
- Active military and veterans: Free with military ID
Almost everything is included. The only extras are the carnival games in the game room and food and drinks. For how much there is to do, it’s a great value.
Tips From Our Visit
- Wear slip-on shoes. Many attractions are shoes-off, so you might as well make it easy for yourself!
- Go early. All rides end at sunset, and later in October that’s before 6:30. On Tuesdays, the farm doesn’t open until 3 p.m., which leaves only a few hours for rides.
- Reservations aren’t required. Tickets aren’t sold in advance; you just pay at the front entrance.
- Leave the cooler at home. Outside food and alcohol aren’t allowed, and coolers may be searched.
- Check the weather. There are no refunds for bad weather, and some attractions only run when the weather allows.
- You can bring your dog. Konow’s is dog friendly. You’ll need to sign a waiver at the front entrance, and your dog must stay on a leash at all times. Dogs can’t go in the animal barns or near the farm animals, and they aren’t allowed in some areas, like the corn pits. They can ride the tractor rides with you, though. Watching the pups on the hay ride was one of the cutest parts of our day.
- Stay together. Kids under 17 must be with an adult in the maze and throughout the farm.
- Want pumpkins only? You need paid admission to shop the store or buy pumpkins, unless you schedule a weekday visit in advance.
Grown-Ups Only: Ghouls Night Out
Konow’s isn’t just for kids. Ghouls Night Out is back on Thursday, October 1, a 21+ night with live music from The Boy Band Night, drinks, tarot card readers, and a costume contest. Grab your girlfriends and make a night of it. Tickets are sold separately and may sell out, so buy yours early.
Note that the farm and corn maze are closed to regular visitors on October 1 for the event.
