We were invited to explore two awesome family attractions in the south suburbs, both of which are part of Visit Chicago Southland. Since these spots are located just a short drive from each other, they make a great combo trip for families looking to fill a day with active play, friendly competition, and lots of fun!

Slick City Action Park in Orland Park
My boys were so excited for our “day of fun,” as we began our adventure at Slick City Orland Park, an indoor adventure park where the energy kicks in as soon as you walk through the doors.
Slides at Slick City

The first thing you’ll notice at Slick City is the impressive collection of giant slides. These aren’t your typical playground slides. They are massive, fast-paced rides that had us belly laughing the whole way down. Kids and adults alike can get in on the fun, making it a great spot for families with different ages. My husband and I had a blast exploring all the different slides with our boys, making note of our favorites along the way.

The required mats enable you to slide head-first on your stomach while holding straps and keeping your elbows tucked, providing a super-fast ride without water. They are located in black bins all over the building, easily accessible, and we found them to be very clean and organized.

Our favorite slide was the “Mega Launch, which lives up to its name, as it launches you into the air and onto a giant inflatable pillow. My 6-year old requested to do this one over and over, leaving me holding my breath each time. It was definitely exhilirating and very entertaining to watch everyone’s launch at the end.
Please note that the minimum age for the slides is 4 years old.
Laser Tag at Slick City
After getting our fill of sliding, we were excited to keep the fun going with a family game of Laser Tag. This was our first time playing together and it was so cool to see everyone’s teamwork and strategy come into play. My boys loved hiding behind all the different “bases” and trying to beat my husband and I.

The General Manager of this location, Austin, was so helpful in getting our game set up and told us how he and a few other Slick City employees built the two-story challenge course themselves. I thought this was very impressive, because there were so many fun obstacles to run around.
Next, we headed over the sports courts for some more active games and friendly competition. We loved how soft and bouncy the basketball courts were and while I chose just to be spectator of the Dodgeball area, I could tell how much fun the kids (and adults) were having.

Lunch at Slick City
After burning all that energy, everyone was definitely ready for a snack break! Luckily, Slick City has a great selection of food options, making it easy to refuel before heading back to the attractions. We tried multiple things on their menu and my boys were in heaven getting to sample a lot of their favorites.

If you’re up for more fun after a snack break, they also have a dedicated area for kids 0-5 and an arcade. My boys are 6 and 8 so we didn’t test out the area for smaller kids, but there were multiple kids in there having a great time. With so many activities all in one place, it’s easy to spend several hours at Slick City and we can’t wait to come back.

Bathrooms
The bathrooms and water bottle refill stations are located right near the entrance. Bathrooms were clean and very well-maintained.
Hours
Closing times flucuate but they open at 10:00am most days. You can find all hours and events here.
Lockers
There are keyless lockers located at the entrance which can be rented via debit card to store valuables during your visit.

In the Game Hollywood Park in Crestwood
We were excited to continue our adventure at In the Game, another family favorite packed with entertainment. We were amazed at how much there was to do here! We actually ended up staying about 4 hours, because we didn’t want to miss out on anything.
Arcade and Mini Bowling at In the Game
We started off by testing out all the games in the huge arcade! There are games that appeal to kids, teens, and adults, making it the kind of place where everyone can find something they like.

There was many chances for earning prizes, testing new games, and joining in on a little friendly competition, from air hockey to a game of mini bowling.

Go Karts at In the Game
One of our top highlights was the go-kart track, where we raced against each other on multiple trips, competing for bragging rights for the fastest lap. The track is full of twists and turns, which kept us laughing the whole time.

The electric karts allow up to 1 driver and 1 passenger per car. Drivers must be 58″ tall or taller. Passengers must be 40″ or taller.
Mini Golf at In the Game
We also loved the mini golf course! It is an 18 holes and there is a lot to look at along the way, so it’s a fun course, whether you have experienced golfers in the group or are just looking for a relaxed game together. My boys enjoyed looking at all of the little houses, fountains and decor along the way.

Rides at In the Game
The fun doesn’t stop there! We made sure to test out the Giant Fun Slide and the Himalya, a fast-paced family-friendly mini coaster.

Food at In the Game
After spending many hours here, we worked up an appetite (again!) and tried a few items off their menu. They have a large sitting area near the food counter with tables and TV’s, so my kids enjoyed slowing down and watching one of their favorite shows while we waited for our food. They also have a station with free water so you can fill up during the day.

Families planning a celebration can also take advantage of the party rooms at In the Game, making it a popular option for birthdays and group gatherings. Plus, a new attraction called Beat the Floor is currently under construction and coming soon, adding another exciting challenge to the lineup.
Pricing
We loved that families can customize their experience. You can purchase play credits and use them toward attractions like go-karts, mini golf, and mini bowling, so everyone can pick their favorites without committing to a full package. They also offer some nice daily specials.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms are located near the food area and were well-maintained.

Together, Slick City and In the Game Hollywood Park make an awesome family day trip. Start with slides, laser tag, and active play, then continue the fun with go-karts, mini golf, bowling, and arcade games. We had so much fun that my kids called it a “yes day,” claiming it was one of their best days ever!

Both attractions are part of Visit Chicago Southland, the official destination marketing organization for the south metropolitan region, representing the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago. This combo was a perfect family outing for all ages and a must-do on your summer bucket list!
