Indoor Play

It’s no secret that the suburbs are filled with incredible playgrounds, but what do you do if the weather isn’t cooperating? The Fort Indoor Playground is an ideal indoor play area to burn off energy on hot, cold, and rainy days. Before going, read more about what you’ll find at this hidden gem located inside the Fort Hill Activity Center in Naperville.

Features of The Fort Indoor Playground

The Fort Indoor Playground is a two-story playground filled with slides, stairs, ramps and various gross motor activities. Kids can test their agility as they climb, jump, and slide over and over again. We love the size of this playground, as there’s plenty to do to keep kids having fun, but not so big that parents will lose them. Adults are not allowed on the play structure. Like most indoor play spaces in the suburbs, socks are required, so don’t forget a pair from home.

There’s also a small area of wall puzzles that are meant for younger children. During designated hours of the day, The Fort is used by Fort Hill childcare. When it is not in session this play area is open to the public.

Food

Food and drink are not allowed directly in the play space. There are a number of tables outside in the hallway where families can sit and take a snack break. Vending machines are located next to the entrance to the Indoor Playground. If you would like something more substantial than vending machine food, you’ll need to bring it from home, or stop at a nearby restaurant. Fort Hill Activity Center is about a half-mile east of Route 59, which is home to countless restaurants, including the new entertainment and dining area, Block 59.

Bathrooms

As part of the Fort Hill Activity Center, there are public restrooms down the main corridor from the playground area. You will need to leave the play area to use the restroom.

Hours

As of January 16, 2026, the Fort Indoor Playground is open for unsupervised play on weekdays from 12:30pm – 3:30pm, and Sunday mornings from 8:30am – 12:00pm. Check their website for holiday hours and schedule changes.

Prices

Residents will pay $5, whereas non-residents will pay $7.50 to play at the Fort Hill Indoor Playground. These prices were updated in January 2026 and are subject to change.

Recommended Ages

Children playing during unsupervised time must be between the ages of 5-11 years old. Our group spanned that range, and both younger and older children had a lot of fun playing in this space. I thought my 10-year old could lose interest quickly, but she was just as happy as her younger brother was to stay for two hours.

Best Days/Times To Go

Open play hours are Monday through Friday from 12:30pm – 3:30pm. They also have weekend hours on Sundays from 8:30am – 12:00pm. The weekend hours are more likely to be crowded, as are rainy days or days off school when families are looking for more indoor play.
