Naper Settlement is hosting the Craft by Beer Series, a range of fun, creative social events for adults ages 21 and over. Each themed session runs in the evening and includes one complimentary drink ticket with admission. Themes cover a variety of topics including trivia, science, arts and crafts, holidays, and history. This month’s session was “Science Trivia and Test Tubes”.
Guests can expect a relaxed atmosphere where they can explore a variety of hands-on activities, combining learning with entertainment. Below you’ll find details about how this new programming at Naper Settlement works and what’s in store for future date nights.

Naper Settlement’s Craft by Beer Series
Activities and Experiences
The Craft by Beer series covers a variety of themes and topics throughout the year, so each experience will be different. During our “Science Trivia and Test Tubes” session, we took part in five different science experiments along with four rounds of trivia. Questions ranged from chemistry to astronomy, physics to biology. Some of the questions were difficult, but the majority felt appropriate for our knowledge and skill set. All of the experiments were hands-on activities with common household items, some of which were activities that campers do at Camp Naper Summer Day Camps.

We enjoyed our time patiently tinkering, especially knowing the mess was easy to clean up. Throughout the experiments, as we completed tasks, we were awarded bonus points that would apply to our trivia total. You could tell all of the activities were carefully planned out to maximize fun. At the end of the evening, a winner was announced, but the competitive experience was very casual, making it a fun night for all participating.

There were 8 tables stationed around the Pre-Emption House Tavern, one for each group participating. I imagine that with select themes, you will be sharing space with other parties, but for this one, we had our own table to ourselves.
Food
There is no food served during the activities, but Naper Settlement is located in the heart of downtown Naperville, which is filled with countless dining options perfect for a date or parents night out.
Parking
Free street parking is available throughout all of downtown Naperville, with the most convenient being along Webster Street. If that space is full, the Water Street Parking Garage is a short walk away, as is a free parking lot just south of Naper Settlement.

Dates and Times
The Craft by Beer series runs almost monthly, with sessions on select Thursday evenings from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. With different offerings each month, no two experiences will be the same. The themes and dates are listed below:
- March 26: Mosaic Coasters (note: this date is already sold out!)
- April 23: Birdhouses
- May 28: National Treasure Escape Room
- July 2: America 250 History on Tap Trivia
- September 17: That Belongs in a Museum
- October 15: Mad Scientists
- November 12: Costal Holiday Trees
- December 10: Holiday Music Bingo
It’s important to book your ticket in advance to ensure participation, as nights will fill up. No matter the session, the pricing is the same.

Prices
Every participant needs to purchase a $20 ticket in advance. With admission, all guests will receive 1 drink ticket which covers beer, wine, seltzer, and soda. Additional alcoholic beverages are available for $7 each, while sodas will cost you $1. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and a valid ID must be shown at check-in. Whether you’re planning a girls’ night, a couples’ outing, or simply looking to try something different in downtown Naperville, my husband and I both felt that for a two hour experience, including an alcoholic beverage, we were happy with the price of our tickets at Craft by Beer.
