We went to Margaret J. Lange Park in Rosemont a few days ago and was shocked to learn that they are tearing it down after this summer. There’s a big splash pad with so many different types of sprays, fountains, dumping buckets, and a car wash – it’s adorable – and the playground looks brand new!
The Rosemont Park District staff told me that Rosemont Elementary School and the Park District are swapping land. So the park will be torn down and the school will be built there in its place. Then a new park will be constructed on the former school’s land. It sounds like a huge undertaking and we’re looking forward to seeing the plans!
So if you haven’t been to Margaret J. Lange Park, here’s your chance! Want to get a sneak peek? We took photos and have some tips for you, so keep reading.
Margaret J. Lange Park Splash Pad
The entire splash pad is fenced in and there’s an admission charge of $10 per non-resident child (adults and infants are free).
In our opinion, the car wash is the main attraction at this splash pad because it’s unique and fun.
There are also so many fountains and spraying structures, including animal-head cannons, mushroom waterfall, rainbow tunnel…
and three dumping buckets.
Splash pad hours now through August 11, 2024 are:
- Monday-Friday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Saturday: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Sunday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
From August 12-31, 2024:
- Monday-Friday: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- Saturday: 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm
- Sunday: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Margaret J. Lange Park Playground
This playground has a soft rubber pour-in-place surface with two areas. The larger playground has a seesaw, zip line, slides, rock climbing wall, and other opportunities to climb.
There’s also smaller playground equipment for kids 2-5 years old with a balance beam, slide, and climbing dome.
In this area, you’ll also find a bank of swings, including an expression swing.
The park district building is also on the grounds of this park and there’s a game room on the second floor that is open Monday through Friday from 4-7pm and Saturday from 1-3pm. Non-residents are $1 for the day and there are all kinds of games in there, including air hockey, foosball, ping pong, basketball, and arcade games.
