20 Unique Igloo Dining and Outdoor Patio Options Turn a Winter Meal Into a Magical Memory

These restaurants with winter-ready igloos are redefining “patio weather,” allowing al fresco dining all winter long. Sharing a meal together in a heated igloo, hut, pod, greenhouse or outdoor patio is a cozy way to enjoy a meal out with an extra-special twist.

Make your reservation in advance, and be sure to bring a cozy blanket for a little added warmth. Please note that some of these experiences require non-refundable reservations or have minimum spend requirements. We’ve noted those details where available, but it’s always smart to double check when making your reservation.

The Guildhall Streetery was built in 2020 to allow for expanded dining, but is no longer in use as of fall 2025.

DIGS on Canal

As of late 2025, DIGS on Canal is moving locations to 12257 Walker Road and rebranding to Digs on McCarthy. Their old location at 316 Canal Street has now become a sports bar, Kings on Canal. There’s no word yet if the igloos will come back, but we hope to see them!

The Drake Oak Brook

Greenhouse-style igloos with dining tables inside and outdoor lights strung overhead.

Morton Arboretum

This year, you can upgrade you Illumination visit with the IllumiDome experience. Rentals cost $325 and $295 for Arboretum members. Rental time slots are 5:00pm – 6:30pm or 7:30pm – 9:00pm and include a non-alcoholic drink voucher and S’mores kit per guest, a basket of holiday treats and option to upgrade to alcoholic beverage package. Reservations are required.

    Thank you for this, it is amazing!! 2 things to add though. 1. I drove my family out to features (naperville) last night, and was very disappointed to see that it is not individual dining. There are 3 train cars, that are separate, but each one has 6-8ish tables inside. Not covid-safe in my opinion, and certainly not in the category of others on this list.

    2. Stray Hen Cafe in Elmhurst has added igloos, it is a great breakfast restaurant, with cocktails, and right on the train tracks so kids can be entertained by the trains.
