Santa Claus really is coming to town! Kidlist has you ready to celebrate the season and spend time with Santa, Mrs. Claus and their elves at many family-friendly events. These range from tree-lighting ceremonies to full-fledged meals with the jolly old man himself.

Events Spanning the Season

Santa at Oak Brook Center (Oak Brook)

SantaLand (Macy’s Chicago)

Macy’s SantaLand (which many know as Cozy Cloud from the Marshall Field days) is on the 5th floor of Macy’s on State Street. The store advises that right after opening is the best time of day to visit.

Santa at Bass Pro Shop (Bolingbrook)

Lincoln Park Zoo Lights (Chicago)

Come visit Zoo Lights for the many special events featuring Santa, ice sculptures and 3D displays.

Visits with Santa (Downers Grove)
November 25–26, December 2–3, 9–10, and 16–17 | 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Santa’s little house sits at the corner of Main Street and Curtiss Street. Bring your camera!

Winter Wonderfest (Navy Pier Chicago)

Navy Pier’s annual indoor winter carnival returns with lots of family fun.

Santa House (Naperville)
December 1–December 23 | Exact times vary each day
Naperville Riverwalk, Jackson Avenue and Webster Street, Naperville

Take a magical trip to visit Santa on the Naperville Riverwalk at Jackson Avenue and Webster Street. Admission is free. Photos can be purchased for $8 each or two for $15. Visits with Santa during the public nights are on a first come, first served basis. Special nights also are available for families with special needs, families with pets and military and first responders. Beginning in November, reservations are taken in advance online for the special nights, but there are a limited number of spots available. Holiday Magic (Brookfield Zoo)
December 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, and December 26-31 | Open 10 am – 9pm, festivities begin at 4 pm
Brookfield is transformed with more than a million LED holiday lights, as well as ice carvers, animal shows, and more.

American Girl Welcome Santa (Chicago)
Sundays in December | 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Cap off a visit to the American Girl Store at Water Tower Place with a special meal and meeting Santa, complete with photos.

Holiday Tree Lighting (Elmhurst)

Come join the first tree lighting ceremony in Elmhurst! Santa will arrive on a fire truck.

Holiday Shopping Extravaganza at Bolingbrook Golf Club (Bolingbrook)

Christmas shopping, photos with Santa, facepainting, raffles, and door prizes for the first 50 guests.

Friday, November 24

Gingerbread Festival (Downers Grove)

Storytime begins in the library, followed by a tree lighting procession with Santa.

Holiday Walk (Glen Ellyn)
Friday, November 24 | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Fire Department lifts Santa Claus to the top of the Christmas tree so he can turn on the lights. Then, Santa heads back to the Fire Department, where kids can sit on his lap and get a candy cane.

Santa’s Craft Corner (Cosley Zoo Wheaton)

Visit Santa at the zoo, make crafts, enjoy refreshments, and see the animals.

Santa on the Green (Oak Lawn)
Saturday, November 25 | 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Santa, Mrs. Claus, Frosty, and an elf on stilts will all be there to celebrate. A trolley will carry families from the Village Green, where carolers will sing, to the Oak Lawn train station, which will be set up with a Shop Oak Lawn Kick Off Party.

Maggiano’s special breakfast buffet includes a visit with Santa and the “Candy Bar” full of treats.

Skate with Santa, Anna and Elsa. Register with the Naperville Park District for private ice time, photo opportunities with Santa, holiday music and hot chocolate, too.

Celebrate the Season Holiday Festival and Mistletoe Market (Cantigny Park Wheaton)

Cantigny gets decked out for holiday activities including sleigh rides, live reindeer, carolers and crafts.

Winter Wonderland and Christmas Marketplace (Western Springs)

The WSBA is excited to announce the Western Springs Winter Wonderland and Christmas Marketplace (formerly Christmas Walk).  The event will take place on Saturday, December 2nd from 2:00 – 7:00pm featuring food, drinks, live music, shopping, reindeer and Santa!

The Christmas Market will be situated along Hillgrove Avenue.  Local vendors will open at 2pm and offer a variety of items to include jewelry, housewares, toys, clothing, accessories and more!

This year Santa will be located at the tower green with visiting hours in our very own Santa House! Santa will arrive via Fire Engine at 2:30pm to help kick-off the event.  The official lighting of the Village Christmas Tree will take place at 5pm.

Skate with Santa and enjoy the winter wonderland concession area with holiday crafts, a photo area and other activities.

Swimming with Santa (Pelican Harbor in Bolingbrook)

At Pelican Harbor’s party, after you meet Santa, you can swim in the pool with the (melted) snowmen. There will be treats, decorations, and activities, too.

Santa’s Bedtime Stories (Woodridge)

Kids dress in pajamas and slippers for a treasure hunt through the community center, stories from Santa, milk and cookies, sharing their Christmas wishes, and more.

Meghan and her husband live in Downers Grove with their two sons ages six and seven and their four year old daughter. She is a transplant to the Chicago area and absolutely loves all that the western suburbs have to offer for her young family. One of their favorite places to visit year round is the Morton Arboretum.
