All the 4th of July Fireworks, Parades, and Events for 2024

It’s time to celebrate like it’s 1776! 4th of July fireworks are everywhere throughout the west and northwest suburbs, so get ready to ooh and aah at the skies this Independence Day. To round out the festivities, you’ll also find parades, festivals, and family 5ks.

If you’re looking to go to the city, this year’s fireworks at Navy Pier in Chicago will be happening on Wednesday, July 3. Don’t see your town’s plans yet? Check back, as we’re continually updating the list as plans are announced this summer.

2024 4th of July Festivities in the Western Suburbs

4th of July Fireworks and Parade in Aurora

July 3, 2024 | fireworks at 9:00pm
July 4, 2024 | parade begins 10:00am

The parade winds through downtown Aurora, kicking off at 10:00am. The best views will be at the stand found in front of David L. Pierce Art and History Center, at 20 East Downer Place. In the evening, join the fun starting at 6:00pm at RiverEdge Park or McCullough Park, where you’ll find DJs playing music as you await the fireworks display. Wilder Park and Promenade will also be home to food trucks starting at 5:00pm.

Bartlett’s 4th of July Festival

July 4 – 7, 2024 | times vary

Four days worth of celebrations including a carnival, live music, food vendors, and much more. All festivities will occur at Apple Orchard Community Park, which can be found at 692 W. Stearns Road. Fireworks will be on July 4 at approximately 9:15pm, while the parade will occur on July 6, beginning at 10:00am.

Bensenville’s LibertyFest

July 4, 2024 | 10:00am – 10:00pm

The parade kicks off at 10:00am, starting at 12 S. Center Street and ending at Redmond Recreational Complex. Food, DJ, and live music entertainment begin at 6:00pm at Redmond Recreational Complex. The annual fireworks display takes place from the Bensenville Public Works Facility at 717 E. Jefferson Street, beginning at approximately 9:30pm.

Bolingbrook’s 4th of July Festivities and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | gates open at 3:00pm, fireworks begin at dusk

The Village of Bolingbrook will be hosting their fireworks display on July 4, 2024. Head to Bolingbrook Golf Club starting at 3:00pm for live music, food trucks, and festivities before the fireworks show that starts at dusk. New in 2024: guests can reserve a VIP 15 x 15 up-front viewing area, which will also include two parking passes.

Brookfield 4th of July Parade and Party in the Park

July 4, 2024 | Parade kicks off at 10:00am

After the parade, head to Kiwanis Park for two band performances. Food and drinks will be sold during the concerts, which ends at 5:30pm.

Independence Day Fireworks in Burr Ridge

July 3, 2024 | 5:30pm – 10:00pm

Pre-fireworks festivities, including face painting, a dunk tank, balloon artists and more, will be held at Walker Park. Parking passes for either the North and South Lots can be purchased in advance for $20. Please note that the standard parking passes are sold out, but handicap spots are still available.

Carol Stream’s 4th of July Parade and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | 10:00am, evening festivities begin at 6:00pm

Celebrate the 4th of July with this long-standing Carol Stream tradition. The parade runs along Lies Road, between County Farm Road and Fountain View Drive. Visit Carol Stream Town Center starting at 6:00pm, for the Hillbilly Rockstarz concert beginning at 7:00pm. Stay for the fireworks afterwards.

Clarendon Hill’s 4th of July at the Pool

July 4, 2024 | 11:30am – 5:00pm

Daily admission fees apply to this festive celebration at Lions Park Pool.

Darien Lion’s 4th of July Parade

July 4, 2024 | starts at 9:30am

Celebrating it’s 53rd year, the parade route will follow the same path as 2023. Beginning at Jewel on Cass Avenue, proceeding north to 71st, east to Clarendon Hills Road, and then south to Hinsdale South High School.

Independence Day Parade in Downers Grove

July 4, 2024 | starts at 1:00pm

Downers Grove celebrates their annual parade heading south down Main Street. The Downers Grove and Woodridge Fireworks will begin at 9:30pm.

Elmwood Park’s 4th of July Celebration

July 4, 2024 | parade steps off at 9:00am, celebration from 6:00pm – 10:00pm

The Elmwood Park parade route, which ends at Village Hall, can be found on their application. The evening celebration takes place at Elmwood Park High School, with live music and food vendors, culminating in a fireworks display.

Glen Ellyn’s 4th of July Parade and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | 12:00pm – 10:00pm

The parade runs along Fawell Boulevard this year, between Lambert Road to Park Boulevard. The fireworks display takes place at Lake Ellyn Park at dusk. Don’t forget the Freedom Four 4Mile Run on the morning of the 4th.

Hinsdale’s Fourth of July Parade and Festivities

July 4, 2024 | 10:00am – 4:00pm

The parade, beginning at 10:00am, is following along Garfield Street, to 1st Street, to Grant Street. The post-parade family-friendly festivities run from 11:00am – 3:00pm at Burlington Park, with the craft fair running from 10:00am – 4:00pm.

La Grange Country Club Fireworks

July 3, 2024 | times TBA

Independence Day Extravaganza in Lemont

July 3, 2024 | 4:00pm – 10:00pm

Visit Centennial Park for kids activities, DJs, food and more before the fireworks start at 9:30pm.

Lisle Independence Day Celebration

July 3 – 4, 2024 | times vary

Live music will begin at 5:30pm on July 3 at Lisle Park District’s Van Kampen Stage. Music will continue until the fireworks at dusk. The parade will run through downtown Lisle on July 4, starting at Lisle Junior High, and finishing at Village Hall. Museums at Lisle Station Park will be hosting an ice cream social after the parade, at approximately 10:45am.

Fourth of July Fireworks in Lombard

July 4, 2024 | begin at dusk, approximately 8:30pm

Lombard’s annual fireworks display will take place at Madison Meadow Park, which is located at 550 E. Madison Street.

Independence Day Celebration in Lyons

July 4, 2024 | parade steps off at 1:00pm, festivities begin at 4:00pm

Lyons festivities will take place in Veterans Park. Live music, bounce houses, vendors, and much more for this festival, which culminates in a fireworks display at 9:30pm.

Naperville Salute and 4th of July Fireworks Display

July 4 – 7, 2024 | times vary

Fireworks will be on the southern part of town, held at Frontier Park on July 4. You can watch from Frontier Park, located at 3380 Cedar Glade Drive, or Neuqua Valley High School. The Naperville Municipal Band will play from 7:30pm – 8:15pm, with the fireworks show starting at 9:30pm.

The official schedule for Naperville Salute has not been released yet, but in years past, it is filled with local bands, family fun, and food. Check their website for the full schedule for more details about this annual event held at Rotary Hill on July 5-7, 2024.

July 3rd Celebration and Fireworks in North Aurora

July 3, 2024 | 5:00pm – 10:00pm

North Aurora’s fireworks display and celebration will be at Riverfront Park, located at 25 E. State Street. More details to come!

North Riverside July 4th Celebration

July 4, 2024 | 10:00am and 6:00pm – 9:00pm

The parade, which kicks off at 10:00am, ends in Veterans Park, with evening festivities at Village Commons. Visitors will find music, food, and drinks for sale, with the fireworks starting at approximately 9:15pm.

Taste of Oak Brook

July 3, 2024 | 4:00pm – 10:00pm

Join the fun at the Village Sports Core Fields, located at 700 Oak Brook Road, for this annual event. Finish the night off with a beautiful fireworks display.

July 4th Parade in Oak Park

July 4, 2024 | begins at 10:00am

The parade will kick off on the morning of July 4th, beginning at Longfellow Park.

Oakbrook Terrace 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | parade begins at 12:00pm, festivities begin at 3:00pm

The parade begins at noon, kicking off from City Hall. Please note: the picnic is open to residents and their guests only. Wristbands must be purchased in advance. The fireworks begin at 9:30pm at Terrace View Park.

Oswego Independence Day Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | begins at approximately 9:30pm

Oswego’s annual fireworks display takes place at Prairie Point Park, which is at 4120 Plainfield Road. There are many parking lots nearby that the Village encourages spectators to use, which include Oswego HS, Prairie Point Elementary School, Traughber Junior High School and Eastview Academy. The rainout date is July 5 if needed.

Riverside July 4th Festivities

July 4, 2024 | beginning at 8:45am

Festivals begin with the annual Independence Day 5K, which starts at 7:15am. The parade kicks off at 8:45am, followed by festivities in Guthrie Park from 10:00am – 1:00pm. More details to come!

Romeoville Fireworks

July 3, 2024 | 9:30pm

Romeoville is doing three simultaneous fireworks displays on July 3, designed to avoid crowding and see the fireworks. The locations of each show are Lukancic Middle School at 725 Normantown Road, Volunteer Park at 1100 Murphy Drive, and Discovery Park at 300 S. Highpoint Drive.

St. Charles July 4th Celebration and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | Viewing parks open dawn to 11:00pm

The fireworks display was moved to Langum Park in 2023 to allow for a wider range of viewing. The St. Charles Park District will be flying a red balloon starting at noon, so spectators can confirm they will be able to see the fireworks display later that evening. Both Langum Park and Mt. St. Mary Park are viewing areas, with food trucks opening at 4:00pm.

Independence Day Parade in Villa Park

July 4, 2024 | parade kicks off at 10:00am

The parade theme for 2024 is “One Flag, One Nation”, with a route approximately 2 miles long through Villa Park.

Warrenville 4th of July Festivities

July 3 – 4, 2024 | times vary

This year’s festival runs for two days in Cerny Park. Warrenville’s parade kicks off the fun at 6:00pm on July 3, and ends with the fireworks display at 9:30pm on July 4 at Cerny Park. With the annual Firecracker 5k, there’s a lot to celebrate this year in Warrenville.

Westchester July 4th Parade

July 4, 2024 | starts at 9:30am

Westchester’s annual parade will begin at the corner of Mayfair and Dorchester, finishing at Community Park. The parade route can be found on their website.

Westmont’s Independence Day Celebration

July 4, 2024 | festivities begin at 4:00pm

Fireworks in Ty Warner Park cap off an evening of fun including food vendors, games, music and more. Fireworks start at 9:30pm.

Wheaton Independence Day Celebration Fireworks and Parade

July 3 – 4, 2024 | times vary

Festivities are held in Graf Park beginning at 5:30pm on July 3, which culminates in the fireworks display beginning at 9:00pm. The annual parade through the streets of downtown Wheaton steps off at 10:00am on July 4. Find more details about the parade route, which runs along Main Street before winding through downtown Wheaton.

Woodridge’s 4th of July Picnic

July 4, 2024 | 11:00am – 3:00pm

Castaldo Park is home to Woodridge’s 4th of July Picnic. Food will be available for purchase, DJ, and trackless train rides are offered. Downers Grove and Woodridge collaborate each year on their fireworks celebration, which begins at 9:30pm. Located at 75th Street and Lemont Road, parking lots at businesses along these roads are the best spots to see the display.

Yorkville Parade and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | 9:00am – 12:00pm and dusk

The Yorkville 4th of July Parade will kick off at 9:00am. The parade route is posted on their website. Following the parade, Yorkville Town Square, found at 301 N. Bridge Street, will be host of various activities, running until 12:00pm. The fireworks show will take place at dusk, near the corner of Route 47 and Countryside Parkway.

2024 4th of July Festivities in the Northwest Suburbs

Frontier Days 4th of July Parade in Arlington Heights

July 4, 2024 | 10:00am

The 4th of July parade, which travels down Dunton Avenue ending at Recreation Park, is just one part of the Frontier Days festivities, which runs from July 3-7, 2024.

Barrington’s 4th of July Fireworks and Festivities

July 2, 2024 | 9:30pm – 10:00pm

The Village of Barrington will host fireworks at Barrington High School on July 2, with the 4th of July Parade kicking off at 10:00am on July 4.

Buffalo Grove Fourth of July Fireworks and Concert

July 4, 2024 | concert begins at 7:00pm

The concert, which takes place at Willow Stream Park, will end with the fireworks display at dusk. Guests are welcome to bring coolers and lawn chairs to the park.

Community Fireworks in Des Plaines

July 4, 2024 | steps off at 10:00am

Des Plaines’ fireworks will be over Oakton College on June 30 at dusk, with festivities beginning at 7:00pm. The Independence Day Parade will be on July 4 through downtown Des Plaines.

Elgin Parade and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | all day festivities

Elgin’s annual parade kicks off at 9:00am, running south on Douglas Avenue between Slade Avenue and Highland Avenue, ending near City Hall. Evening festivities will begin at Festival Park at 5:00pm, culminating with a firework display around 9:30pm.

Fourth of July Celebration in Elk Grove Village

July 4, 2024 | 5:00pm – 10:00pm

Rotary Green is home to the festivities including an appearance from NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski, live music, delicious food, and a fireworks display finale.

4th of July Celebration in Glendale Heights

July 4, 2024 | 12:00pm – 5:00pm

Join the festivities at GH20, which will be running all day long. A parade and additional activities are all included in general admission.

4th of July Parade in Hoffman Estates

July 4 – 6, 2024 | times vary

The 4th of July parade will take place along Illinois Boulevard on the July 4, with the fireworks starting at 9:30pm on July 6 at the festival grounds at NOW Arena. There will also be a drone lights show on July 5, starting at 9:30pm.

Itasca Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks

July 4, 2024 | approximately 8:30pm

Itasca’s annual fireworks display will take place at Hamilton Partners, beginning at dusk.

4th of July Festival in Mount Prospect

July 3-7, 2024 | times vary

The Mount Prospect Lions Club is hosting their 85th annual 4th of July Festival at Melas Park. This five-day event includes live music, a carnival, annual pancake breakfast, and of course, fireworks. The fireworks display will take place on Thursday, July 4, beginning at approximately 9:30pm.

July 3rd Fireworks Celebration in Park Ridge

July 3, 2024 | 6:30pm – 10:00pm

Music and children’s entertainment will start at 6:30pm before the fireworks display at Maine East High School.

Independence Day Parade in Prospect Heights

July 6, 2024 | starts at 10:30am

Prospect Heights’ patriotic parade will begin at St. Alphonsus Church, located at 411 North Wheeling Road. The parade will move south down Wheeling Road, move west on Willow Road, and north on Schoenbeck Road until Hebron Church. 

Independence Day Celebration in Roselle

July 3, 2024 | 7:30pm – 9:30pm

Visit Lake Park High School – West Campus for food trucks and family-friendly fun beginning at 7:30pm. Fireworks begin at dusk.

More Opportunities to See Fireworks

Kane County Cougars will be hosting post-game fireworks at their home games on July 3 and 4. Don’t forget our Kidlist promo code KIDLIST for buy-one-get-one-free reserved seat tickets.

The Chicago Dogs, located in Rosemont, will be hosting their largest fireworks display of the summer after their game on Thursday, July 4. There will also be fireworks after their game on Saturday, July 6.

360Chicago, which is located on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center, will have amazing views of fireworks displays throughout the city and suburbs. Tickets can be purchased for the evening of July 3, when Navy Pier’s fireworks will take place, as well as July 4.
