We’re excited to share this full behind the scenes tour of the newest indoor play space that is opening up March 1, 2025! Playroom Cafe Social is the latest creation from the Playroom Cafe creator and mom of 2 awesome boys, Maggie.
The idea for the entire Playroom series was born to promote a culture of inclusion, and Playroom Cafe Social is no exception. Maggie has created a serene, welcoming, light and bright indoor play space that is as appealing to kids, as it is to parents. My 4 year old daughter and I were so lucky to get a preview of this space before it’s official opening.

A Space for both Parents and Kids
Playroom Social Cafe was designed with both parents and children in mind. Think somewhere you could have lunch with a friend, while the kids play within view. Playroom Cafe Social offers an extensive coffee bar, snack bar and a full food menu.
Their menu will have homemade flatbreads, salads and various other items you would expect to find in a higher end restaurant in Chicago. They also offer a special gelato station that we (of course!) had to try before leaving!
A feature unlike any other at the newest Playroom Cafe indoor play space, is the private fenced back patio. In the warmer months, the windows slide open and seamlessly transition the outdoors in.

The Playroom Cafe Social is a thoughtful space that was designed with both parents and children in mind. As you enter Playroom Cafe Social, there is a large, bright space where you can easily find a table to park at, have a snack or enjoy your coffee before sending the kids off to play.
There are plenty of storage cubes for diaper bags and little shoes (Playroom Cafe Social socks are required and will cost about $3 per pair). Playroom Social Cafe also has plentiful seating all over the play space, so you are never too far from your little one while they are in the play area.

Features of Playroom Cafe Social
The indoor play space itself offers: Large Interactive Ball Wall Activity Board, Train Table, Tot Area, Trampoline Area with Interactive Games, Large Climbing Structures, Rope Climbing Walls, Multiple Slides, Lookout Area (complete with swings that oversee the rest of the play space), Scooters (with plenty of room to ride), centrally located Soft Play Area for younger visitors, and our personal favorite-a Piano Slide all in modern, clean colors.
We appreciated the attention to detail to keep the space quiet. Acoustical paneling also lines all the walls in the space, and the ceiling has acoustical panels set up to match the theme of the space.

Toddler Play Space
The first space adjacent to the cafe is a large Ball Wall and Train Table nice and low to the ground. There is also a separate toddler soft play area suggested for children up to age 3. This area has age appropriate climbing structure with a soft slide and open space with the small soft toys.

Trampoline and Interactive Activity Wall
My 4 year old daughter loved this trampoline area! The trees on the wall also play music and come to life as an interactive game, all on a trampoline.

Massive Indoor Play Structure with Climbing Walls and Slides, Including a One-of-a-Kind Piano Slide
The Playroom Cafe Social indoor play space was designed for children ages 0-12 years old, or up to 58″ in height. This is unlike many other play spaces around our area, that are geared towards much younger children. The huge climbing structure had different play features everywhere you looked. A huge perk, was the clear panels on the playground. It allowed me to see my daughter everywhere she was on the playground, which is so important when at an indoor play space.

The Piano Slide was so different from anything we had ever seen! Every time you go down the full size slide, you create a different musical tune.

Slides are always a huge hit with my kids, and these were no exception! Within the large play structure, are 3 slides great for kids ages 3-12 years old. The Piano Slide, classic metal slide and the great tube slide with clear panels kept my daughter climbing up the rope wall and down the slides during our entire visit.

Soft Play and Scooters
Right in the middle of the fun is another Soft Play Area and Scooter Track. The soft, smaller structures are perfect for younger visitors ages 2-5. The Scooter Track was one of my daughter’s favorite activities. She loved wheeling around the track as many times as she could. The track covers most of the floor, and gives kids plenty of space to actually ride.

A Space for Families
Playroom Cafe Social was designed as a place for families and friends to come together and connect. Playroom Social Cafe offers a full service coffee bar, restaurant quality menu and snack bar. No outside food is permitted. The indoor play space and the cafe are both large spaces, but close in proximity to each other. I could easily sit at our table in the cafe and see her anywhere in the play space.

Cafe Area
There are multiple areas to sit adjacent to the Coffee Bar. The large cafe area is bright, and welcoming with plenty of seating. Parents will be able to catch up and even enjoy a bite to eat, all while their kids play nearby.
Pricing and Parties
Admission is $19.99 per child and grip socks are required.
The larger cafe area is also available for rental for semi-private events. Parties start at $450 and pricing details can be found on the Playroom Cafe Social website. Playroom Cafe Social also offers a custom decor service as an additional way to up-level your party even further.

Like Playroom Cafe and Playroom Cafe Two, Playroom Cafe Social will host semi-private events. The event space is large, bright and has plenty of seating for all guests to use throughout the party. A feature unlike any other indoor play space is the Outdoor Patio Space. Come warmer weather, the floor to ceiling windows in the restaurant/party area can be opened for use of a private (fenced!) patio. This is one of the features I cannot wait to return and check out this summer.
Bathrooms and Nursing Room
Bathrooms are centrally located with changing tables being installed in both the mens and women’s bathrooms. There is also a separate private Nursing Room on the playspace floor. This space will provide a quiet, comfortable space for the littlest visitors and their families. It will also have a changing table inside.
Grand Opening Event
Playroom Cafe Social will officially open it’s doors Saturday, March 1 2025. However, there is a grand opening event scheduled for March 7, 2025. Check Playroom Cafe Social website or social media for more details.
Hours
Unlike many play spaces geared towards younger children, Playroom Social Cafe aims to welcome families with children 0-12 years old. For this reason, Playroom Social will have extended hours both on weekdays and weekends. This gives parents the opportunity to sneak in some play time after work, or have a little date night and grab dinner at Playroom Cafe Social while the kids play at the same time.
The current hours are as follows:
Monday-Thursday 9:30am-8pm
Friday-Saturday 10am-9pm
Sunday 10am-8pm
Best Days/Times To Go
Typically at play places like Playroom Cafe Social, mornings (before naptime) are busier than afternoons. However, their extended evening and weekend hours make it possible for a less busy after dinner play session. You could even check to see if the menu, and grab dinner at Playroom Cafe Social! Weekends will also be busier than weekdays. There is a huge parking lot for the building, with spots directly in front of Playroom Cafe Social.
