Let’s be honest, free treats make your birthday a bit more magical, whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart. From local favorites to national chains, plenty of businesses offer birthday perks — you just have to know where to find them.
My daughter has a winter birthday, so I went on the hunt for fun freebies (and a few discounts) to make her day feel extra special. I couldn’t resist adding my own birthday to the list for a few grown-up freebies, too. Birthday Freebies and Coupons
Most of these offers require that you sign up for an email list, rewards program, or birthday club. Many also have a minimum time you’ll need to be subscribed before you’re eligible, so don’t wait for the day before your birthday (a month or two before is ideal). Birthday Freebies for Kids
- 2Toots Train Whistle Grill: Sign up for the Birthday Club to get a free kids’ meal, plus a cupcake with a candle (and a song) delivered by train to your table.
- Baskin Robins: You can add up to 5 people on your rewards account to receive a birthday treat coupon.
- Benihana: Join the kids program and children 12 and under can receive a free souvenir mug with a kids meal.
- Build-a-Bear: Not free, but they offer a special “pay your age” birthday bear for your child’s birthday.
- Chuck E. Cheese: Join Birthday Club and enjoy free birthday gifts, including game play.
- Culvers: Add your child’s birthday to your account and they receive a scoop of custard.
- Lego Store: Visit an official Lego Store and receive a free minifigure for the birthday child. Additionally you can sign up for the Lego Insiders Program for birthday discounts.
- Ozinga: Ozinga has a popular Kids Club that sends a birthday and Christmas gift. They open 2026 registration in the summer so be sure to check their website.
- White Sox Kid’s Club: Not specific to your birthday, but sign up for the kid’s club and get monthly freebies. Open to children 13 and under.
