Set in 1920s America, Alexei Kremnevβs βThe Art Deco Nutcracker,β featuring Tchaikovskyβs beloved score, is a fresh, yet traditional take on the beloved holiday favorite with costume and set design inspired by the unique sophistication of the Art Deco era. With all of the decadence and glitz of the roaring 20s, Kremnevβs stunning choreography puts the best young talent on display with an international, multicultural cast, and International Top Awards winners.
This critically acclaimed, one-of-a-kind performance features local area children and is visually stimulating and fun for the entire family.
Internationally renowned dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director Alexei Kremnev is at the helm as Drosselmeyer and two time EMMY winning television personality and WLS-AM Co-host Jane Clauss as Mother Ginger. The 2023 production includes lead roles filled by three area women of diverse backgrounds, making it one of the first ballet companies to do so.
It’s a fresh and fantastic work that holds its own with ballets in every season.

βIt is impossible to find one word that summarizes Kremnev’s choreography: It is everything, encompassing the best and brilliance of what movement can be while breaking boundaries of what we know.
