Our community is full of unique people! Let’s celebrate our many differences and similarities – from the way we look to the things we like – with crafts, activities, and high-energy dancing.

Community Art Project

Help us create a colorful community art display — customize your own paper cut-out person and celebrate unity and togetherness!

Sensory Play
10-11:30 a.m. | Youth program room
Our skin is amazing and works hard to protect us all day long. Enjoy fun, colorful sensory activities that help us celebrate and talk about our different skin tones and all the beautiful colors, shapes, and textures we find in our world.

As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his important work, we remember Maya Angelou’s words that “in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.” Together, let’s be color-brave, choosing to affirm and celebrate our visible differences like skin colors and hair textures in fun, kid-friendly ways. Research shows that talking about what we notice is healthy for everyone. Of course, we’re more similar than different — humans share 99.5% of their DNA!

This program is inspired by the book I See Color: An Affirmation and Celebration of Our Diverse World by Valerie Bolling and Kailei Pew and illustrated by Laylie Frazier.

No registration required. This is an open house format program. Drop in anytime and stay as long as you like. Last entry is 15 minutes before the program end time. Please note there may be small pieces and adult guidance is encouraged. Supplies are available while they last.
