April 8th - Family Workshop #1 TURTLE: Make a Turtle with Paper Maché!
Inspired by the turtles at the conservatory, participants will make a paper mache turtle using reused and recycled paper waste. Note: This workshop will involve using glue to construct turtles with paper mache. Glue can get a little messy, grown-ups beware!
April 15th - Family Workshop #2 DIORAMA: Make a Mini Alien World under Glass
What would the Garfield Park Conservatory look like on another planet? In this workshop, participants will use their imagination to envision and create outta this world dioramas using recycled materials such as shoe boxes, water bottles and old containers and WasteShed Materials.
April 22nd - Garfield Park Conservatory Workshop #3 ROCK FRIENDS
Rocks play an important role in nature and are all around us. Rock fact: The oldest rocks on earth are at least 4 billion years old! Did you also know that rocks help plants by protecting against erosion, providing habitat, and retaining moisture (among many things!). Did you ALSO know that rocks make good friends?! In this workshop, participants will use different creative materials to create their very own rock friends, snap a polaroid picture with their new buddy, and make a mini scrapbook to treasure forever.
This program is included in all reservations to visit the Conservatory, book your reservation ahead of time.
