79th Street Renaissance Festival
The Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) hosts the 20th Annual 79th Street Renaissance Festival, one of Chicago’s largest neighborhood celebrations. First launched in 2005 through Auburn Gresham’s Quality-of-Life Plan with LISC, the festival has become a citywide tradition drawing more than 20,000 attendees each year. This milestone year features a headline performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Chaka Khan.
Festival highlights include themed areas such as a Health Pavilion, Housing Pavilion, Seniors’ Corner, Teens’ Corner, Kids’ Corner, Tavern on the Nine, carnival rides, a petting zoo, and expanded performances at the new Renaissance Festival staging area.
What began as a community vision is now part of Chicago’s cultural fabric, showcasing local businesses, artists, and neighborhood pride.
