A River Thru History – The Des Plaines Valley Rendezvous

The Des Plaines Valley comes alive this September 14th and 15th with the return of the A River Thru History Rendezvous! Immerse yourself in an unforgettable journey back to a time before Chicago, when trappers, explorers, and pioneers gathered along the banks of the river.
What awaits you:
* Living History Encampment: Mingle with fur trappers, settlers, craftsmen, and entertainers dressed in period attire.
* Voyageur Canoe Rides: Take a scenic trip down the Des Plaines River aboard a traditional Voyageur canoe.
* Interactive Activities: Learn essential frontier skills, witness camp contests, and discover fascinating historical demonstrations.
* Pioneer Delights: Savor authentic pioneer food and drinks, from root beer and popcorn to demonstrations of traditional crafts.
* Family Fun: Keep the little ones entertained with games, chores, storytelling, and a chance to barter at the fur trading post.
* Meet Historical Figures: Come face-to-face with reenactments of Chicago’s first resident, Jean Baptiste Point DuSable, and explorer Father Jacques Marquette.

* Location: Columbia Woods Forest Preserve, Willow Springs (Free shuttle from designated parking at Willow Springs Road & 79th Street UPS facility)
* Admission: Free for children under 6; $10 for children 6-17 and Seniors over 62; $15 for Adults; $30 for Family Pass
