Every year, my family looks forward to lounging around in our jammies as we bake cookies and watch movies over winter break. But when the holiday cheer fades into whining and bickering, we know it’s time for a break from winter break! Fortunately, there are plenty of cool camps in the western suburbs to keep kids of all ages from having a mid-winter meltdown. These range from one-day outings to full-day camps with before- and after-care. Read on to find your little camper’s calling!

Codeverse Winter Break Day Camps

Codeverse is the world’s first fully interactive coding studio for kids ages 6-13.  Designed for beginner and pro coders alike, Codeverse will host winter break day camps at all three studios in January. During camp, kids will learn how to code, build holiday-themed mobile apps and games, design robot obstacle courses, and learn all about 3D printing and circuitry. In addition, kids will be able to control cutting-edge gadgets (using real code!) featured at the studios, including concert-hall lights, robots, and TVs. 

Camps will take place on January 2nd and 3rd at Lincoln Park, Wilmette, and Naperville locations. Camps run from 9AM-3PM, with complimentary early drop off at 8AM and late pick-up at 4PM. Healthy, allergy-safe lunches and snacks included!

Keep your child happy and active this holiday season. Have some days off school or just need to get some last-minute holiday shopping done? Oak Brook Park District Winter Pee Wee Camp provides a well-rounded recreational experience for children 3-5 years old. Activities include social play, arts and crafts, storytelling, music and indoor gym time. Their Winter Playground Camp includes arts and crafts, games, and pool time for ages K-5th grade. Your soccer enthusiast will want to try our Soccer Made in America Holiday Training Camp for age 4-15. The camp is designed to teach players proper technical skills while enjoying the game of soccer. The last day of camp will feature fun contests and an awards presentation.

Naperville Park District Winter Break Camps

Looking for something fun to do over winter break? Naperville Park District offers a variety of Winter Break Camps for kids ages 4-15 during the two weeks of winter break.  Enjoy your favorite sport or try a new one, including gymnastics, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and more. Theater, cooking, Lego and science camps round out the offerings. Camps meet for 1-3 hours on some or all of the following days: December 23, 26-28 (week one) and December 30 and January 2-4 (week two). A full day camp is available for grades 1-5 during both weeks. Breakaway Basketball is the largest skill development program in Illinois servicing over 8K players a year and partnering with over 200 travel teams to provide skill development training for coaches and players. Teaching players how to work hard and understand that being successful at anything is a process that takes focus, hard work, perseverance, and patience. They use the game of basketball to teach lessons that will translate to their everyday lives.

Enjoy activities, sports, games and crafts with the Blue Moose Staff! Meet some new friends or enjoy spending time with old ones, learn new games, play your favorite sports and make some creative craft projects.
