Pumpkin Flotilla Fest
Carved, lighted pumpkins will be set afloat on Lake Ellyn at the culmination of this fall festival presented by the Glen Ellyn Park District. The evening also will include live entertainment with Jeanie B! and the Jelly Beans, games and activities, canoe rides, bounce houses, trackless train rides and pumpkin carving demonstrations. You can also carve your own pumpkin at the event!

Turkey Trot 5-Mile Predicto Race
All ages are welcome to participate in this free, five-mile race that starts at 8 am on Thanksgiving Day. Costumes are encouraged! A special treat is in store for the two top runners who accurately predict their run time. No timing devices are allowed on the course. Food donations for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry will be collected on site.

Earth Day
Join us for an afternoon in the park. Bring a picnic lunch, tour the newly renovated LEED-certified Boathouse. Guided walks will be given of the woodland restoration area. Local environmental groups will be present to share ideas on sustainable lifestyles. Canoes and kayaks will be available for rental. Kids can complete a passport while visiting educational stations throughout the park. Rain barrels will be available for purchase at this event.

Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta
Participants will race their handmade cardboard boats on beautiful Lake Ellyn. Winners are determined by the fastest race times! Awards will also be presented for most creative, team spirit, and best sink! Whether you are building a boat or just out to watch the fun, this family-friendly community event is a popular Glen Ellyn tradition. Food trucks, arranged by the Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Committee, will open at 11am.

Come down to the watering hole for our annual catch-and-release fishing derby. You’ll have an hour to catch as many fish as you can. Prizes will be awarded for largest, smallest, and most fish caught in two age groups, 3-6 years and 7-12 years, as well as overall “Best Dressed Fisherman.” An adult must accompany all children. Fee is per child and includes bait, snacks, and activity. Participants must supply their own fishing poles.

Help release fish into Lake Ellyn or Lake Foxcroft. Participants are given a bucket of fish which they carry to the water’s edge and release. This continues until all fish reach their new water home.
