The first thing I did was Google “octopus party” and look on Pinterest… I found practically nothing. So I started from scratch and decided to wing it. I know it’s an eclectic theme for a party, but I wanted to post about it in case anyone is interested, especially since there isn’t much out there!
My son and I made little octopuses out of card stock, colored both sides and glued googly eyes on… check them out:
(each octopus was about 4 inches square and I hung them from the light over our kitchen table)
The main attraction was the 4 foot purple octopus I painted on a piece of foam core! I leaned it against the wall and the most adorable thing happened… we were about to leave to go on a birthday outing and she walked up to the huge octopus and said goodbye to it before we left! I wish I had that on video. :)
The only other thing that I found about octopus parties were octopus cupcakes. I didn’t try them, but I should have because they are creative and cute… If you click on the image it will take you to the original blog that posts about them.

Where did you purchase the foam core? You did a great job
I got the foam core at Hobby Lobby. I’m pretty sure all of the craft stores have it in addition to stores like Blick Art Materials.
