We keep hearing about more and more new experiences opening this summer and are so thrilled that we couldn’t help but put them together in one big announcement! I’m sure we will be giving you more information on these as the dates get closer and giving you an inside look, but in the mean time, get excited! Get the scoop on six new attractions coming to the western suburbs and beyond.
New Sculptures at The Morton Arboretum
While the trolls will only be at The Morton Arboretum until June 2020 (see them while you can!), Human+Nature is moving in on June 12, 2020. Five large scale sculptures (20-25 feet tall) by South African artist, Daniel Popper, will be around the arboretum.
“The installations will include a towering interpretation of a Mother Nature figure welcoming Arboretum visitors to interact by walking inside the sculpture, large-scale human hands, diverse human facial traits interwoven with root structures, and a symbolic opening of the human heart.”
Lemont Quarries Adventure Park
There are going to be all kinds of adventurous outdoor activities at Lemont Quarries, including aerial challenge courses, ziplining, tower climbing, flatwater paddling, mountain biking, rappelling, and more. Right up our alley! Looks like they will have activities for all ages, including a Children’s Zone for ages 3-13.
New Water Slide at Raging Waves
A new, six-lane mat racing waterslide, named Aussie Mat Dash, will allow six riders to race side-by-side in tunnels to the bottom of the ride. Each rider speeds through a fast spiral beside their fellow racers while tracking their progress as they go in and out of open and closed-slide areas along the way. Aussie Mat Dash will feature almost 2,500 feet of combined slides, with each slide being 400 feet in length – only two other such slides exist in the entire world.
Dinosaurs are coming to Brookfield Zoo
Dinos Everywhere will feature nearly 45 life-like animatronic dinosaurs throughout the park, including the largest—argentinosaurus—that was estimated to measure more than 100 feet in length and weigh up to 110 tons. You can find these dinosaurs from May 2 through September 27, 2020. It sounds like they are building upon the 2017 Dinos & Dragons, which we really enjoyed!
Peppa Pig World of Play at Woodfield Mall
This Peppa Pig play center will be moving in where Rainforest Cafe used to be. There will be 14 themed areas of free-roaming play that will bring to life the world of Peppa Pig. Looks like there will be plenty of opportunities to jump, slide, and play at Peppa Pig World of Play!
KidZania is opening at Oakbrook Center
Have you seen the huge plane through the glass windows at Oakbrook mall? KidZania the first mini-city for just for kids! The last one opened in Dallas and our friends at Plano Moms broke the news. Click here to get a taste of what KidZania is. It will most likely open towards the end of summer or in the fall, but dates have not been announced yet.
