Going to a blueberry farm makes a great day trip and some of them are even near Lake Michigan for a beach trip. Nothing beats fresh blueberries and making a day out of it is even sweeter!

8. Splash Pads and Spray Parks
We were so excited when splash pads opened up in July. What a treat! This is always a popular one, but it’s nice that it was able to make the list this year so our kids could splash this summer. 7. Halloween Trunk-or-Treat and Drive-Through Events

6. 6 Sunflower Fields Near Chicago to Brighten Your Day
This is the first year that we put together a list of sunflower fields to visit, pick flowers, and take pictures! And you guys showed up for it, which was awesome. We found six wonderful options nearby, so it’s funny that this ended up being sixth on the list.

3. The Weekend Planner
How amazing that so many of our local businesses and park districts were able to switch things up to continue to provide events. Virtual, socially distanced, registration even for free events to keep numbers down, we saw all kinds of creative solutions. As always, our weekend planner is the same link each week, so you can bookmark it and check back every week to see what’s going on!

2. Best Decorated Halloween Houses Near You
This list made a huge showing this year. Tons more people started taking their decorating up a notch and we received nominations from September through Halloween. My kids and I had a great time scoping them out and adding to the list.

1. Best Christmas Lights and Holiday Light Shows
Over 250,000 of you used our lights guide and map to see some breathtaking displays this year! We are so happy it brought joy to so many people. It’s incredibly fun and rewarding to talk with all the homeowners, verify the lights displays and enjoy them while doing it. Most of them are still up, so there’s still time to check them out!
