Moon Mania: Free Space-Themed Activities, Crafts, Games, Snacks


We are excited to announce Moon Mania, a FREE event with fun, space-themed activities, snacks, crafts, and games for the whole family. Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 moon landing at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove! Please note that RSVP is required, so click here to reserve your spot so you don’t miss Moon Mania, an out-of-this-world experience!

Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Waubonsee Community College, Sugar Grove Campus
Route 47 @ Waubonsee Drive (4S783 IL-47), Sugar Grove, IL 60554
All activities will take place on the North side of campus, in and around the Academic & Professional Center and Science Building.

Activities at Moon Mania

  • View Real NASA Artifacts (6:30 – 9:30 pm, Science Building Room 136) 
  • Kids Crafts & Games (6:30 – 9:30 pm, Between Science Building and Academic & Professional Center) 
  • Watch a Planetarium Show in the StarLab (6:30 – 9:30 pm in the APC)
  • Use a Professional Telescope to View the Night Sky (Sunset – 9:30 pm, Location TBD) 
  • Moon Jumps 
  • Photo Opp 
  • Make Your Own UFO Spin Art
  • Raffle Prizes 
  • Giveaways
  • Out-of-This-World Space Snacks, including Pop Rocks and Astronaut Ice Cream Sandwiches (6:30 – 9:30 pm , patio outside the Academic & Professional Center)

Tips for Moon Mania

What to Bring: Bring a chair or blanket, bug spray and weather appropriate clothing as most activities are outside.

Best Place to Enter and Park: Enter the North Campus entrance off of IL Route 47 just south of the I-88 exit. Parking is closest in the North N2, N4 & N5 lots.

Weather Considerations: In the event of inclement weather or rain, activities will move indoors. Please check the event page for details closer to the event.
