Ice Skating Rinks (indoor and outdoor)

ice skating girlIce skating with kids can be so much fun! Some rinks have tools to assist kids that don’t know how to skate yet, but I have to say that I prefer holding their little hands and skating with them! It’s such a special activity to do together, get some exercise, fresh air (if you choose an outdoor rink)… and then cozy up for a warm drink afterwards! I have listed the indoor rinks, then the outdoor ones. If skate rental is available, I recommend calling the rink ahead of time to make sure they have your child’s size, especially with the rinks in the city which sometimes only have larger sizes.

  1. Love this, thank you! I have two other suggestions – Naperville has outdoor ice skating near the river walk. Also, Wheaton has quite a few ice skating options:

Seven Gables – on Winner’s Cup Circle Map
Rathje Park – Roosevelt Rd. & Delles Rd.
C.L. Herrick Park – Herrick St. & Armbrust St.
Kelly Park (has man made ice rink) – 1100 Main St.
Northside Park – 1300 N. West St. this is a beautiful park, which has a warming shelter, concession area, as well as sledding.

  2. Here is a link to all of the outdoor winter activities in Wheaton including relevant information regarding hours, fee, etc.

    Thanks again for your website!
