Hofbräuhaus Chicago is not just a restaurant- it’s an experience. We were invited to kick off Oktoberfest with them and had a great time standing on the benches, participating in the parade, and making new friends at the table! It’s definitely a unique experience, filled with celebration, delicious food, excellent service, live music, times of call and response that create camaraderie in the restaurant, and an overall excitement in the air.
There are a plethora of festivities including authentic nightly Bavarian entertainment, freshly brewed “Oktoberfestbier” inspired by the original Hofbräuhaus in Munich, daily food specials served by Dirndl-clad waitresses, and celebrity keg tapping ceremonies on Friday nights through October 31, 2019.

We had the opportunity to be in the parade and shot some footage throughout our time there, so I put together this short video to give you an idea of the ambiance in the restaurant. It’s a constant party in there!
With a delicious variety of schnitzels, sausages and other German dishes on the menu year-round, Hofbräuhaus Chicago offers daily Oktoberfest food specials Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to close and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to close.
Oktoberfestbier is brewed at Hofbräuhaus Chicago’s onsite microbrewery using the same method used for centuries at the original Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany. The brewing of all beers served at Hofbräuhaus Chicago is led by a brew master who is trained in the 400-year-old recipes and techniques needed to produce Hofbräuhaus Chicago’s beer.
Although the beer is freely flowing, the restaurant is family-friendly with tables and benches that seat eight where everyone is encouraged to stand on the benches during the meal during certain songs and cheers. It is definitely loud, so if you have children that are sensitive to that, please be advised. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating; they keep the drinks flowing, have helpful ordering suggestions, and are great with our kids.
