We are excited to announce that local moms, Shannon Haut and Lisa Scott, have started a Healthy Kids Running Series in the La Grange/Countryside area! They both love running and are looking forward to creating the opportunity for families to run together. Running is such a natural activity for kids; its the foundation for most sports but doesn’t require the gear!
Healthy Kids Running Series is a national, community-based non-profit that provides a fun, inclusive, five-week running series for age 2-14 designed to get kids active, feel accomplished and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
The fall season starts on September 16, 2018 at Countryside Park, located at 630 61st Street in La Grange and there will also be a spring season as well. Each season includes five Sunday afternoon races with a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Just show up and run!

How It Works
Before the race, the kids will pick up race bags, get t-shirts, and wear numbers. The community coordinators will then lead a fun warm up and demo some running techniques for the kids to learn. The 50 yard dash is first and depending on the number of kids registered, boys and girls may race separately. The races will then be in order of age groups, with the mile race being at the end. Runners accumulate points throughout the season and trophies are awarded to the top finishers based on those points, which is a fun goal for the participants! After the races on the last week, there will also be a “Parent Mile” for fun.
