Grand Avenue Preschools is hosting open houses at their Western Springs and La Grange Highlands locations on Saturday, November 11 from 10am-Noon. You will have the opportunity to meet teachers, tour the large, sunny classrooms and learn more about the curriculum. Grand Avenue’s program focuses on the development of the whole child, fully preparing them academically, socially and emotionally for their elementary education years.
For over 35 years, parents have trusted Grand Avenue Preschools as the important first step in their child’s education. Grand Avenue strives to nurture self-esteem and independence in each child and to set the stage for future learning through a positive first experience at school. In addition to social and emotional development, curriculum at Grand Avenue also includes math, language arts, natural sciences, music, art and fine/gross motor stimulation.
Grand Avenue directors also keep in regular contact with local area grade schools to use the same teaching tools as they do, including Jolly Phonics© and Handwriting without Tears© to ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten. Their program is aligned with the Illinois Early Learning and Development standards, developed by the Illinois State Board of Education. Grand Avenue is also the only preschool in the area that is nationally accredited by the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA).
They offer programs for children ages two through 5th grade. Programs include preschool offered in age specific rooms for two, three, four and five year olds with full or half day options (morning and afternoon), an extended hot organic lunch option for three to five year olds and a Kindergarten enrichment program. In addition, the school offers before/after school programs for children up to 5th grade and has door to door bus service to Grand Avenue from D101 elementary schools.
Grand Avenue is a local, family owned business and directors are on site at each location every day. The school is very proud to have a high retention rate of experienced teachers and each teacher at Grand Avenue receives 24 hours of in-service training per year plus Red Cross certification in first aid and CPR.
