Giant Steps Autism Organization Brings 5K Walk, Pony Rides, Improv to Suburbs

Giant Steps, an organization supporting those with Autism, is pairing their annual 5K Walk for Autism with a Stable Open House and pony rides on Saturday, October 6, 2018! The event will be held at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove. The event is from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm — the walk starts at 10:00 am and your can learn about their equine therapy program during the Stable Open House at 11:30 am. All ages and abilities are welcome.

8:30 a.m. – Registration Begins
9:00 a.m. – 5K Walk Entrance opens, music, games, coffee, bagels, fruit
9:15 a.m. – Welcome/Equine Therapy Program Naming, Announcements
9:45 a.m. – Warm-Up with Melissa
9:50 a.m. – Walk Blessing
9:55 a.m. – National Anthem
10:00 a.m. – 5K Walk Begins
10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Lunch & games
11:30 a.m. – Stable Open House & Pony Rides

Improv for Autism at Giant Steps

The Second City Training Center will be bringing their Improv for Autism classes to the western suburbs. Classes will be held in Lisle at Giant Steps, a school for children with Autism. Classes start this October and are for kids and young adults on the spectrum.

A Picture-Perfect Trip to Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva

The classes at Giant Steps school will be held once a week for eight weeks. Each class session is 90 minutes long. Classes are open to students from ages 11-18 with a primary diagnosis of autism.
