Parks for Pollinators
June 23, 2018, 11:00 am - 3:00 pmFree
June is National Pollinator Month! Pollinators such as honeybees, monarch butterflies and other insects are a vital component of our ecosystem and an essential link to the world’s food supply – but the U.S. has seen a 30 percent annual decline of pollinators, over the last 30 years.
In celebration of National Pollinator Month, and just in time for National Pollinator Week (June 18-24), Ortho and the National Recreation and Parks Association invite individuals and families for a free, interactive ‘Parks for Pollinators’ event in Chicago on Saturday, June 23 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Congress Parkway Plaza North (intersection of E. Congress Pwky and S. Michigan Ave.). Enjoy free food while learning ways to help protect pollinators, taking part in a DIY “seed ball” craft station and snapping a few pictures at a photo booth!
The “Parks for Pollinators” fun continues with an online photo contest, where people can post a pollinator photo on social media with the hashtag #Parks4Pollinators for a chance to win a pollinator garden prize pack. The contest is taking place throughout the month of June.
