Gettysburg Day

Visit Naper Settlement to experience life in Naperville during the crucial summer of 1863. Hear Lincoln deliver his famous Gettysburg Address, visit a house in mourning over a fallen soldier, experience the fashion of the day with a Civil War era fashion show, and more.
Commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Visit Naper Settlement to experience life in Naperville during the crucial summer of 1863. Hear Lincoln deliver his famous Gettysburg Address, visit a house in mourning over a fallen soldier, experience the fashion of the day with a Civil War era fashion show, and visit Infrastructure, our featured exhibit. Children ages 6-13 can pre-register to learn how to drill like a Civil War soldier. (Special note: drilling includes the use of wooden toy muskets.)

Gettysburg Day Activities Schedule:
1-4 PM: Visit a House in Mourning in the Murray Building.
1:30 PM: Sword Drills on the Village Green
2 PM: Abe Lincoln Delivers the Gettysburg Address (a theatrical performance) in Century Memorial Chapel.
2:30 PM: Children ages 6-13 can pre-register to learn how to drill like a Civil War soldier at the Mansion hill. Special note: drilling includes the use of wooden toy muskets. Parents MUST stay with the group during this time. Please click here to fill out the registration form.
3 PM: Civil War Era Fashion Show and Infrastructure in the Meeting House.
