Beethoven Lives Upstairs

April 30, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$12 – $32

Join the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago and Mina Zikri, Music Director, for an extraordinary Family Concert event on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 4:00 pm. In a joint production, the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago and Classical Kids Music Education, in collaboration with the DePaul Community Music Division, present Beethoven Lives Upstairs produced by Classical Kids LIVE!

This exciting theatrical concert version of the world-famous recording is set to Beethoven’s most beloved music. The story features a lively exchange of letters between young Christoph and his uncle. Their subject is the “madman” who has moved into the upstairs apartment of Christoph’s Vienna home.
Children (and their parents) will be captivated by more than twenty-five excerpts of Beethoven’s music, including the Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise, and the great Fifth and Ninth Symphonies. The music is magically woven into the drama as two actors share anecdotes and observations based on true incidents from the composer’s life.

Presenting history, drama, music, and fun, this engaging performance is 50 minutes in length and will take place at the Gannon Concert Hall, Holtschneider Performance Center, DePaul University School of Music, 2330 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL.
Tickets can be purchased through the Holtschneider Performance Center Box Office using the link or by phone 773.325.5200. The HPC Box Office is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10AM – 3PM.
