Preventative Care Tips from Local Parents

Thank you to the local parents that offered up tried and true preventative care! Of course, this advice is from other parents—always consult your pediatrician for medical advice. Here are some of your top tips:

Sharing isn’t always caring. Avoid sharing things like helmets, hats, headphones, scarves, clothes, and brushes. Keep these items separate from others; stored in a personal locker instead of on a coat hook, for instance.

Keep hair tied back at school.

Try these products for preventative maintenance. The science is uncertain, but lice seem to be repelled by certain scents, such as tea tree oil, rosemary, eucalyptus and lemon grass. Some parents recommended adding tea tree oil to shampoo: before doing this, please verify that the oil you are using is safe to be applied to skin—and store away from children, as tea tree oil is poisonous if ingested.
