Experience the holiday lights of the city on a heated trolley! Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Co. offers a holiday lights trolley tour that takes you through State Street, Millennium Park, Gold Coast, Streeterville, Lincoln Park, and the Magnificent Mile. They also stop at Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza and ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo so you can hop off and enjoy. We did the tour a few years ago and thought it was a perfect way to see all of the lights and popular holiday destinations in the city.
Because of traffic and closing times, the order in which you see the sights changes, but the tour is about 2½ hours and is a great way to experience many parts of the city during this holiday season without having to worry about parking at each location.
There are two stops where the passengers get off the trolley and explore for about a half an hour each. The first stop is Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza. My kids and I enjoyed getting some hot chocolate and admiring the gifts and unique booths. We ended up buying a hand carved wood ornament that we love. It reminds us of our fun night!
The finale of our tour was the Lincoln Park Zoo Lights.
