New Game! Cauldron Quest by Peaceable Kingdom

Peaceable Kingdom gave us the opportunity to try a new game called Cauldron Quest and it was a hit in our house so I wanted to share it with all of you!

Here’s a description of the game: “The evil Wizard has cast a spell to destroy the kingdom! You have the power to create a potion to break the spell, but you must work together. Your quest is to find the three correct ingredients hidden under the potion bottles and move them up the paths and into the Cauldron before the Wizard blocks all of the paths. If you do not get all three potion bottles with correct ingredients to the Cauldron before the paths are blocked, the Wizard triumphs and the kingdom is destroyed.”

It was a great game to play with my kids! The first couple times we played I kept the directions near by because there are dice roll combinations to learn, but after getting the hang of the two sets of dice it was a breeze. This game is recommended for children ages 6+ years old, however my 5 year old really enjoys it. It’s challenging enough to be fun, but not discouraging. I’m always amazed at how well balanced the Peaceable Kingdom games are.

This morning my kids woke up and went downstairs to play Cauldron Quest and played two games together. It was awesome. They worked together to beat the wizard and had fun together! My son said it is “magical fun” and they both think it’s really cool that either they both lose or they both win so they can work as a team instead of against each other. What a nice break from sibling rivalry. Phew. In their words, “it’s epic.”

You can find Cauldron Quest at your local toy store or click here to buy it on Amazon. Also, if you happen to be really into games, Peaceable Kingdom will be at Gen Con in Indianapolis this summer (July 30-August 2, 2015) with all three of their new games.

I am a big fan of Peaceable Kingdom games because they are creative and well made. If you have younger children, you should try Hoot Owl Hoot. My daughter and I really enjoy that game as well and I reviewed it here:
